You know how it looks - we have hundreds of sets but unfortunately only small part of them could be use in competitive gaming. And it doesn't seems that ESO would do anything to update those sets, especially from the oldest content.

SO the idea is simple (and inspired by this forum):

USE TRANSMUTE CRYSTALS TO CHANGE BONUS SETS FOR 2-4 PIECES.

Of course such change should be limited to bonuses currently used in certain set. So if your set have 657 crit, 129 dmg & 1k stamina, you could transform set bonuses to all crit or all dmg or maybe switch stamina to crit or dmg, depending on what suits you the best.

But in case of sets like Alfiq, you wouldn't have option for change.

IMHO such change would open many options for players to make personalized builds, without breaking the game (changes would increase bonus for max 6% crit or 258 dmg or 3k pen - such changes seems acceptable and would have a price). In fact, it would be kinda update for older sets, because the difference in quality between sets from original game and sets from few latest expansion is rather... substantial.

And of course such change should be available for overland, dungeon & craftable sets. In case of trial... it could be discussed but obviously no one would set slayer or aegis two times ;p

And monster sets, mythics or arena should not have such options.

Any questions? ;)

This.... sounds okay on paper, but I fear you'd effectively kill all set balance with this. People would shop for the best 5 piece set, and then take it's one set bonus they want and just ramp it up.

Sure, you are right, but is it different from the situation we have now, where only handful of sets are considered meta?

And just as you predicted, people would look for 5 set bonus from quite large pool and then personalize whole set. Some would go for dmg, others for crit, some maybe for recovery - and that is perfect, cause suddenly we have plenty of options to play and manipulate.

How about a feature where we can "perfect" a set by essentially just adding minor slayer/aegis onto it like trial sets have? I feel like that's a lot more doable.

To balance it out, make it so that you'd have to run trials/arenas to acquire a material that would allow you to perfect it at a transmute station. certain sets of course would have to remain ineligible, but still.

I think it was theAsianGod, he made a comparison of some sets and in this comparison he show how powerful slayer is.

Adding 258 dmg or 6% crit chance might not be game breaking but adding 5% dmg to all attacks (LA, HA, skills) that are based on total spell/weapon power & magicka/stamina pool gives much more punch ;)

This would better be done through the crafting benches but it would never happen. It would kill set balance, decrease the need for participation in various dungeons, trials, etc., and empower the player far too much to ever be realistic.

But ATM there is no point in wearing overland and base dungeon sets, maybe except MS, Medusa or Leviathan, because even if some set have nice 5pcs bonus, usually 2-4 are stuck with magicka or stamina.

Sure, if you want a really poweful set like Relequen or Siroria you can still grind this poor Cloudrest, but need for participation in anything else than CR or SS has been already decrease.

Tbh it would me way more useful if we could change the weight of the sets. So we could use like 25 - 100 (idk how many) transmute stones to convert light to medium or medium to heavy. Or maybe more depending on the armour weight - so converting light to medium will be cheaper than light to heavy etc.

It would be cool feature if you could build a custom set where you could choose from a drop down menu of available 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 set bonusus. The earthforge (felt) sort of like that. TBS as a set also makes it feel you have some level of choice and customization.

Perhaps there is a special new location in a dlc like how transmute happened in clockwork city? What a cool feature when that was added. So it *could* possibly happen.

College of Winterhold dlc perhaps. Where a master wizard spell crafts you the bound set of your dreams in exchange for transmute crystals and 9 trait level 50 crafting achievement? Make it mean something again.

Yeah, something like runes in the Witcher 3. That is also a good idea.

Oh, that could work. Or... maybe some Dwemer instalation in Hammerfell? Poor Tharaya would be in action once again ^^
