Any nightblades out there NOT using excecute? How do you do it? PVP

In the journey of becoming the best nightblade i can be, im noticing a really bad habit ive got over the years - abusing the hell out of execute. Im thinking, if i somehow managed to play without it it would free up 1 spot frontbar i could use on *xxxxx* depending on the situation. Are there any good nightblades out there NOT using execute, and if so, how exactly do you go about your business when securing kills? Incap - > mediumweave surprise attack - relentless? What if relentess misses - > surprise attack spam?

My main is NB, though I have played it for many years I would not say I am good, just good enough.

I don’t like the execute, I forget what it’s called, and don’t use it. I am never able to use it at the right time or actually “execute”, so like you I have to hit it more than once.

So that’s PvE, where it messes up my rotation having to think about things like that when I just want a skill rotation where I can stack dots and use every skill each rotation.

In PvP, it makes more sense to use it because I have a more adaptable skill rotation that is flexible.

I am terrible with relentless focus too, what a cumbersome skill, but I use it anyway.

I know I’ll get persecuted because my build is old and I don’t pursue the meta.

You didn’t specify so I’ll assume PvE.

I use bow: endless hail, rearming trap, caltrops, poison injection, leeching strikes
dual wield: power extraction, relentless focus, surprise attack, rending slashes, vigor if needed

    Rinse and repeat.

I’m forgetting a few but going off memory.

Probably not what you're looking for, but Whirling Blades is my choice. Undodgeable, gets the job done.

Also looks sexy. Would be even sexier if it had Killer's Blade's sound effect, but you can't win them all.

PvP wise Impale and Killers Blade are probably the worst executes in the game - they both have no smooth scaling (like most execs) or no extra traits (like sorcs furry/wrath).If you are able to get your opponent to 25% you will be able to kill them without these abilities, no self-respecting stamblade uses killersblade.

As for PvE, yes they are good execs, nothing special but at least they don't stand out from the rest.

"Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game." - @AlexanderDeLarge

Executes are not needed when damage is so high...

If your build gets overall more potent with another skillslot free dont use it. Back when surprise attack didnt stun you basically needed to have stun on your frontbar to secure kills so it was generally better to slot a stun over execute. Now SA deal, good damage, debuffs, sets off balance for ressources and stuns. You dont really need anything else but that also opens barspace for executioner.

I play a Magblade in PVP and do not have an execute slotted. As someone above me pointed out, Killer's Blade/Impale do not have smooth scaling and are basically useless until the execute phase, while the point of a Nightblade (or at least my NB) is that the entire fight is basically an execute phase. If you invest in high crit damage, as well as high crit chance (or rely on your Cloak or something like Mechanical Acuity), your regular attacks will already eat away at health bars.

The nb execute i don't use, it is too hard to get it to land at such a low health. They will die before i can use it. I swap between 2h and dw as main bar. I know most folks prefer the 2h but i just rather play dw. Blades are good. Obviously you have to set the champ points a bit differenly if you want to play an aoe nb.

Why would I use impale on my magblade in PvP? Adding a useless garbage skill in my build will only decrease my survivability and my efficiency, the day they buff this skill then maybe I'll consider it.

Time your skills for a big burst rather than spam an execute where you are open to getting attacked.
It all depends how you play. If you are zerg surfing you can light attack execute, if you are brawling or 1V1 you should just time it to a soul tether out to a assassin will proc...but execute...hmm...doesn't sound that great.

I can only reference magicka, sorry.

Persecuted? Nah, a little odd perhaps. I think the only thing that makes me scratch my head about that is the endless hail part. Trap I can understand though if you can bait them into it or put them in a choke.

OT: On my magblade a while ago when I got bored of bombing for a bit - Shatter soul was essentially my execute, so i'd build up with harvest on the front bar, pop bow proc with a swallow immediately after with a spell pot into shatter soul. It was pretty deadly on most except against the most adherent to the tank meta ethos lol

Uh...yeah. Now I see the PVP in the title that I didn’t see before. Duh.

I do see a guy in Cyro who actually uses endless hail or the other morph. He really stands out, lol!

    Hey,

I am not good at Nightblade. But those who can kill me and are not bombers anyway are usually using Executioner (2h skill) or Concealed Weapon.

On my bomber build I started playing last week I noticed I can kill easy enemies (less than 30k health) with heavy attack and concealed weapon only. Many players can't break free out of concealed weapon spam, but the desync makes it hard to land that skill on moving targets. After a few tries I don't do that on tank targets anymore, though.
