Speed runs past the mobs and goes straight for the boss. Only taunts boss and leaves adds and mobs running amok.

Kills/collects/taunts everything nice and clean before moving on. Waits patiently for everyone to keep up.

DPS without taunt. Rodeo circus, running and blasting everything in its path. Boss aggro is more fun when it's Russian roulette...

DPS with taunt. Master of dodge rolls. -Who needs block or sword and shield anyway when you can dodge. -Positioning? -What's that?

LOL, what a nice biased poll.

For the record, I don't wait patiently. If I wait, it's impatiently. Because if a DD is falling behind a tank, who are usually the slow ones, then that DD needs to pick up the pace.

Some may be there for the quest and wants the group to wait... I'd be interested to see if the answer to the poll is as obvious as you think it is... -I'm not so sure. Lots of very impatient people out there who just want to get it done and won't be slowed by a lumbering turtle of a tank.

I agree that this is an extremely biased poll, but otherwise could lead to solid discussion on preference.

I chose option 2 because of the choices, it was the one I would agree with the most, but my actual choice is secret option #5. A tank that can do any or all of the above, in the right situations by knowing what the group wants/needs through proper communication, text or voice. They aren't a pug, because it's someone I've chosen specifically for the run.

Stay with the group and position the boss so DPS can do their thing. They do that and I am happy. Bringing in the worst of the mobs is a bonus.

Not using a pug is cheating... The poll assumes you use finder to group for the pledge.. Changed the heading to reflect this.

As long as the DD will let me, i will go in, gather up the Trash in a tidy little group and serve them up on a Silver Platter.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    You forgot an option -

Companion! Who needs CC or buffs, a taunt and some block is fine.

As long as they hold aggro I don't really care. They could use a fishing pole as a weapon for all I care.

I would prefer the one that adapts. Being a healer, I hate the most when half the group rushes to the boss and the other half stays behind cleaning up trash. It's like "who do you like more, your mother or your father?" for me.

As long as everyone sticks together, I can live with anything, even if it's some bizzare circus.

When it comes to vet dlcs pugs, tanks are the babysitters and the rest are the babies. It's only fair that one day maybe, we'll ask the tanks what type of healers and dps the tanks want.

Personally I think for group finder the second option would be the best option because its general purpose.

The others well, thats what a friends list is for haha

DPS that wait for the tank to group the mobs, and wait for tank to taunt the boss.
Healers that have orbs/shards and an actual heal slotted.

    Not much. :P

For most base game dungeons, fake tank as DPS. Most of the time I do more than 50% of the group damage. But when it is a dungeon that actually needs a tank, I switch over. I would rather have a fake tank on vFGI. I tried regular tanking and it literally took 5 minutes on the first boss minus when I fake tank and it took less than a minute.

It all depends... It is not fun to hold taunt on a boss for 10 minutes that it can easily be killed in 1 minute.

Taunts everything? I wouldn't expect that out of anyone, not that I don't mind if a Templar tank is AOE taunting with tormenter, it's pretty cool. At least as long as they're taunting the one-hit-wonder NPCs.

My one and only tank character makes an incredibly neat pile out of anything with Vateshran sword and board, then pulls in the rest with chain and roots them with talons, uses a back bar AOE for the crusher enchantment, aggros any big things with puncture.

As far as waiting patiently goes? Absolutely, I just picked up the crochet emote for the time that follows next since my tank isn't able to contribute much else to damage or healing

I do not think they were speaking about the rare occasion someone is on the quest but to what one can expect in general with pugs. Also, someone doing the quest does not seem to be part of the poll so their response seems very appropriate.

Some may be there for the quest and wants the group to wait.

When you are running with a PUG for a vet pledge dungeon, it is safe to assume that everyone is here for the pledge and nothing else. And if someone happens to have the quest, they should say so at the beginning and the vast majority of players will wait and give the quester at least a chance to click through the dialogues. However, roleplaying the quest, carefully studying all the reply options and reading every book is not the right thing to do in a vet pledge dungeon. That's what normal dungeons are for.
