Slotted CP Star Cooldowns

Let's talk about this nonsense.

Before the latest update, my addons seemed to be able to swap my stars based on context without the cooldown kicking them off. I could use meticulous at each crafting station while keeping steed's blessing slotted elsewhere. This was very helpful. Now, I have to manually slot meticulous before I visit stations, or risk losing out on mats. Cool. Similarly, I have to constantly babysit my Craft tree stars to make sure I get decent movement speed or the ability to farm materials effectively. This is another chore we don't need.

To make matters worse, we decided not to reduce the outrageous cost of these quality-of-life stars when Warfare and Fitness got the same treatment. While I have an addon that lets me swap star loadouts at the press of a button, Craft stars are so expensive, I can have two loadouts that are identical in Warfare and Fitness, but get charged 3k gold because I can't possibly buy all of the stars I need in Craft to simply swap slottables. It's not a swap, but a full redistribution to get the stars I need. There is no purpose to swappable slots if they're so expensive, I can't afford more than a few of them without being of absurd CP. For reference, I'm at about 1700 and this is still annoying.

Something needs to change here. Some combination of the following would be great:
  1. Make some of these stars cheaper. 100 for gifted rider and 75 for master gatherer? This is awful. Cut the prices.
  2. Second, make plentiful harvest and master gatherer properly passive, rather than slotted. Maybe even meticulous. These aren't combat benefits, so locking them behind slots only serves to detract from player quality of life.
  3. Third, remove the cooldown and simply retain no swap in combat. Hell, add a 30 second timer after leaving combat if you need to. Just stop making me wait to change stars. You're making me stare at walls for 30 seconds. Again, this only serves to inconvenience players. It serves no balance or gameplay purpose.

Any quality of life bonus that doesn't directly impact on the combat should be a passive. It's just annoying having to constantly switch them around and it serves no useful purpose and just irritates the player. The combat-related ones I can understand due to balance concerns.

So I agree with most of what you said, though the costs don't really bother me. It's a MMORPG and like having long term goals to work toward, so long as they are worth it. It's the ones that just suck , but still cost a lot (like Shadowstrike) that are truly awful.

How about, you HAVE to pay for some crap in order to get access to things you need. None of my characters need inspiration boost, or wayshrine cost reduction, or enchant charge passive, let alone that bounty thing, and yet I have to spend a couple of weeks of leveling worth of points in order to just be able to take star I want. Why can't I directly unlock what suits my needs? Why do I I need 15 green points (which is 45 level ups) permanently locked in inspiration on a character with maxed out crafting?

1: No, their value shows in how much they cost. Players use them despite the high costs.
2: Agreed, quite some nodes in the green tree should be passives. Although after playing with this new system for a while, I can appreciate players having to choose their strenghts.
3: No no no!! CP stars should not be allowed to be switched on the fly. This would make players use ALL nodes, instead of only the ones they choose. Giving some players a massive gameplay advantage, both in PvE and PvP. This cooldown is justified.

I’m fine with the current red and blue tree as long as we get the promised updates and improvements that were discussed when it launched.

The green tree needs an overhaul. This was supposed to provide us with some QoL options and somehow that’s turned into something that makes using this a real pain in the A.

Why restrict this so much is beyond me.

zos know players will want to mount, harvest nodes, fish etc but making us choose only 4 when ultimately it has no real in game advantage is just putting barriers in front of players for the hell of it. Putting cool downs then on top of that barrier is just plain stupid as if players do want to swap about then this is just overly difficult.

I’d be much happier if it were more like a major and minor effects and having passives feedings into relevant slot tables for say fishing, mounting, treasure and gold, consumables, gathering/crafting etc so you had 1 slottable and 1 or 2 passives.

This still means there’s an element of choice in what you spend points in and youd need to still choose which slottables you select but it would require much less maintenance from players as well as ensuring what you spend makes your gameplay experience much better which was the whole point of this tree!

This might sound slightly sarcastic, but don't take Steed off your bar, drop the harvest speed buff instead. That one has no permanent loss for not being slotted, and will be instantly apparent if you're trying to harvest mats and realize you have the wrong one in place. Still need to manually slot meticulous when you're refining... but, still.

Heck yeah, I think the noncombat slottables should be converted to passives! This is very annoying and tedious to me as well.

    Careful what you wish for.

Zos seem to think making stars cheaper also means you want them to be less powerful. They might seriously nerf the power of them like they did with the passives in the other stars.... Just saying.

Add 2 more slots to green CP. Easiest fix.

It would fix it I guess, but I would be irked by it being 6-4-4 😂

I also think it's sort of like treating the symptoms and not the disease.

Just one more change to green constellation would be welcome, let me have the reduced harvesting time star as a passive.

I have given that one up because I either forget to reslot Meticulous for an entire day or Homemaker when I finally get a purple plan.

I have over 1540 cp now and it’s “tink tink” or “chop chop”. I think I have earned a default faster harvest by now.
