"Just give the order" - how? Pyre of Ambition quest

Stuck right now on a quest where it's telling me to just "give the order" for an NPC to do an action. and I cannot find anything in my keybinds to let me do this.

Through the whole quest I was also having NPCs call out "just pick a target for my archers to shoot" and I likewise could find no keybind to set or do this.

What do I need to do to be able to tell an NPC to do something?

Been googling this and unable to find anything.

the synergy key in specific green circle target area's.

If your companion is using that undaunted blood altar it's synergy tend to take precedence over everything else for some reason you might not have seen the prompt.

I ignored most of those due to them timing out by the time enemies were within the circles to be able to use them.

You don't need to take advantage of the mechanic, it's just a green ground AOE with a synergy as bmnoble said, that you can use to get the archer NPCs to help you kill some enemies. The fight should proceed just fine without it as long as you kill everything, as you've hopefully done by now.

After about 30 minutes in there, I did finally get it. Despire being in that green area my synergy never popped until I stood exactly between and one body length behind the two ally NPCs.
- I found I always had to be in that exact spot to do it, as this mechanic repeated a few times in the fight. The 'green circle' was very larger, but if I was just a tiny bit out of the that exact distance from each NPC I could get no synergy popup.
- This one was vital as the boss goes immune until you command the ally NPC. Just like that last fight in Greymoor from a year ago. Had the same issue a year ago, and I recalled googling how to do it, and folks said to hit 'X'. But that never worked on this fight.

As for the 'tell my archers what target to shoot' that was spamming voice the entire run, and in another quest earlier in the day - I never did figure out how to tell them what target...
- This one never had green circles to go to.

Oh, the one where you command the NPC to use her power on him. I missed that and thought it was just the archers thing. Sounds like that fight was terribly buggy for you, yikes. I didn't have that experience, it went pretty smoothly for me.
