Not every town has every vendor for the companion gear, Shadowfen has all the vendors in a small corner right next to each other between the guild traders and the furnishing vendors.

This is not... unusual.

You can often find runes or style materials in guild vendors selling for higher prices than it would cost to actually buy from the relevant merchants.

Never given it much thought myself, I'm sure there is a reason.

Reason is some people are scam *** willing to rip off other players with minimum effort

Convenience. Not something I would do, but they're charging the customer for the leg work to find a vendor. Like I said, it's not something I would do. It's not wrong, just lazy capitalism. The real gold is in selling what you farm yourself imo.

I don't agree with price gouging, especially if it means that newer/uninformed players might be taken advantage of, but at the same time... caveat emptor.

We saw the same thing after housing was released, guild stores filled with white furniture plans at a huge markup from the NPC sales prices. And we to this day see Potency Runes listed in stores for more than the Enchanter sells them for.

I’m torn about it. On one hand it’s a shady sales practice. On the other hand, caveat emptor - people who can’t be bothered to do their research pay a premium, that seems fair.
