Reasons I didn't watch the twitch stream...

Reason 1: There's NO one streaming for the stream team. Why not let everyone get drops on their channel instead of ... 9 people?

Reason 2: The notification that I get from discord is at 12 PM the night before. So when people actually start streaming for the day, I've already forgotten about it.

Reason 3: There is no reason 3.

I always just open up Twitch, select ESO from among the various games I follow, and see who's streaming. It seems like there's always at least 1 streamer on who has drops enabled-- but I haven't checked at all hours of the day and night, so I'm definitely not sure about that. But there are Australian streamers who stream during what are night hours for me, British and European streamers who are on a little after that, and then the American streamers who are in various time zones-- so it seems like there's always someone to watch.

    1. you don't have to actualy watch it, just have it run in a background until the crate unlocks
    2. the drops are active across variety of streams the entire day, so just pick a time that works for you
    3. it might be 5 gems or so per crate, but 3 days of crates = 16 gem crown crate item. and so on... and so forth. so there is no reason only if you are not interested in any crown items, EVER. (i mean there are also mount scrolls to get your alts moving faster sooner and sometimes you get them directly, other times you can just buy them for 5 gems per)

again... its your choice in the end, its just your reasons are... I guess the word I'm looking for is .. strange. to me. given that you get free stuff for almost no effort on your part.

If I wanted to start watching now, I would have 0 options to watch.

The whole point of the large amount of streamers for drop events was that different time zones could get on and watch during their most convenient time.

There are very little amount of streamers for this event. Every day its a small number. Not a big one. Currently there are 0 streamers online. Yesterday when I finally remembered to watch, there were (take a guess) 0 streamers online.

    Why restrict the streamers now?

really? i literally just clicked twitch open and there it was, stream with drops enabled.

going to actual twitch drops schedule page - yielded another streamer active right now, so take your pick

and this took me all of 2 minutes to find out, most of which was spent on my pages loading. (my laptop doesn't have a good wifi card)

I'm literally looking at the stream team options right now and everyone says off-line.

Why would they not include everyone in that list?

Why would they give some people the options to have drops and others not and make absolutely no distinction on their page.

    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/streamers

Edit: I guess I was looking at Day 4 instead of day 3. Still 2 streamers out of hundreds of people? Seems kind of low.

Weak is the word that comes to mind for me. Like SeaGtGruff has said you don't need to actually watch the stream. Just pull one up and walk away. Plus it seems there's at least one streamer going at a time throughout the whole day. Even if you don't qualify during one you can continue the drop timer on the next streamer.

It pisses me off because its not the streamers fault that ZOS can't seem to advertise, and for some reason only gave like 10 people a day the option to stream, most of which are offline for most of it.

If I'm good enough to remember that I can watch a stream after mentioning it once and then never again, at least they could have the decency to provide a large pool of streamers to choose from.

Why would they list the latest streamers for Day 4 and not the current day? It doesn't make sense.

I guess sometimes they want to promote specific streamers/give them some new viewers maybe instead of people just going off to whoever their favorite is and calling it a day? i don't know, but the point is there ARE active streamers at all times, so...

Why do they list the day 4 streamers on day 3? Are we always supposed to know the number? If you look at the "latest" day, there are no streamers online.

why would you look at latest day instead of the day it actualy is today? and also each day i click on is showing me 15 potential streamers to chose from.

the ones active right now I found by clicking on today's schedule. they DO have actual dates listen on announcement as well, for each of the days.

also... consider for a moment that many that streamers that are listed on multiple days... are streamers they wish to promote on multiple days and have streams with drops and giveaways scheduled for MULTIPLE DAYS? why is that a problem?

I get where you're coming from, because it does seem that they've chosen to limit the event to just a few streamers at a time, which is different than it's been in the past.

I think one of the reasons might be something to do with an agreement that each streamer has to abide by as far as which content they can show. At least, 1 or 2 of the streamers I've watched made a comment to that effect, saying that they're not supposed to show any of the new zone's main storyline. There might be other content as well, but that was what they mentioned in particular. It has something to do with ZOS not wanting the streamers to spoil the zone storyline for any console players who happen to be watching, since Blackwood hasn't dropped on console yet. If ZOS wanted to reach an agreement with participating streamers before allowing them to be included in the event, or however that works, then they might have needed to keep the number fairly low simply for logistical reasons-- having to contact the streamers, get them to formally agree, and so on, or however else it's being managed.

I’m on console. I shouldn’t have to watch a stream and potentially have what is arguably a major story driven chapter ruined for me a week before launch by poor streamers in order just to get a chance at crates/pet.

This was really poorly thought out. I can understand in trying to promote the new chapter for hype but just throwing the task to streamers just implies the developers don’t really care about either their product or properly marketing it.

I mean this chapter is the bread and butter of the year. It’s the headline DLC that the organization of everything runs around. You just don’t lazily turn over the marketing of such to a bunch of streamers and hope that gets engagement (it doesn’t).

The Ouroboros Crates aren't even enough to get me out of my chair. They don't drive me to watch a stream, and if I am, I don't go out of my way to claim them. I don't even pay attention to them. I have hundreds of them and need more of them like I need more lag in the game.

If they just handed out Gems, I might pay more attention.

I mean... I don't pay much attention to them either, its really that low effort for me. I open a twitch stream. i have it play in a background on a muted tab at absolute lowest resolution to save bandwith (so the stream itself is not muted, but I don't have to listen to it anyways), I do whatever i feel like/planned on in a meantime. I check the tab about an hour later and just click on claim crate. every once in a while, once i accumulate a bunch of them in game, i spend 5 minutes opening them and converting to gems. its already so low effort. and at least that way every once in a while, I get 160ish gems per crate instead of 5.. which is nice (I already have both pet and mount so whenever i get dupes which is not often, but it does happen - I get a nice gem boost)

I mean... too each their own, if you are not interested.. that's your prerogative. I just mean... its not exactly complicated or time consuming already.

As I understand it, the participating streamers-- the ones whose streams are actually drops-enabled-- had to agree that they wouldn't show spoilers, so your concerns about having the chapter ruined for you were evidently anticipated and accounted for. No one's forcing anyone to watch, but there are plenty of people besides you who are interested in watching.

I don't know how old you are, but I'm pretty old. Back in the old days, providing the then-brand-new videogaming magazines with complimentary copies of newly-released games so the writers could play the games and review them was a common marketing tactic, in addition to all of the print ads and television ads.

ZOS knows that ESO steamers are going to stream ESO just as they always do, so it just seems like common sense to take advantage of that. And it most certainly isn't taking the place of ZOS's own marketing efforts. Their ads are there for anyone to see, just as they always are when a company releases a new game or expansion.

Well, if you go to twitch and click on the ESO drops campaign, there's a link to go to 'a participating live channels' where it lists all the streamers with drops enabled that are currently live. It takes merely seconds to find a stream at any time you want.

Thank you. THIS is the advice I needed. I clicked on multiple links from the streamers page on this very website and none of them were actually giving drops. Doing this allowed me to finally find a channel that is giving me drops credit.
