looking for a mag sorc build..maybe you can help me

Darkspecialist
i read a lot of guides but just cant decide. Id like to quest, delves and public dungeons. I want to do aoe damage and or just run along and watch things melt maybe hit one or two buttons as a mag sorc.

I has some vet gear i get from tanking on other toons that i give to the sorc but i log in and log out cause i just cant find a build that im okay with reading that lets me do maybe a one bar aoe sorc build.

what builds would you suggest?

thanks

My solo pve build is just 5x julianos, 5x mothers sorrow, 2x crit pieces (slimecraw and iceheart), and a MA fire staff on the back bar (although you don't need this, it's just a bit more damage). I'm currently farming medusa (to replace julianos), but you can get minor force from a psijic skill, so I'm not even sure if I need medusa. I don't run pets so have plenty of space on my bars. I take the lover mundus and 7 divines for the penetration, but if you're just doing overland stuff you don't need that much penetration, so could use the shadow mundus for more crit damage, or the thief for more crit chance.

On my bars I use Bound Aegis and Inner Light (front bar) for the extra max magicka and crit chance, and also Elemental Drain for sustain and more penetration. then just a couple of aoe ground dots (Unstable Wall of Elements and Lightning Flood), Force Pulse, Frags and Mage's Fury. Crit Surge for the healing (it's amazing). Maybe Hardened Ward if you need it. It's not 1-bar but it's super easy to build and use. There are plenty of 1-bar builds on youtube, but they probably include pets.

If you're doing mostly solo stuff, I run a heavy attack sorc for VMA that might work for you. Its the old Undaunted Infiltrator lightning staff and jewelry paired with Infallible Aether clothing and the Maw monster set. Its almost all AOE attacking and heavy attacking. The UI is nice as you get a stamina boost which helps with sprinting, blocking, and roll dodging. I do run pets for the healing and minor damage increase. If you have a VMA lighting staff, back bar it.

Basic skills are Matriarch and Scamp on both bars, Wall of Elements, Inner Light, and Daedric Prey on front bar, Crit Surge, Empowered or Hardened Ward, and Harness Magicka on the back bar. I've swapped Ward out for Boundless Storm for more damage and speed.

Again, this is primarily for VMA, so you could easily swap out some of the defensive skills for offensive skills for overland content to up your damage, like Daedric Mines or Scalding Rune

Now that we all need more CP/XP, I've been using AoE builds to grind XP in public dungeons and other crowded places.

I basically spam Elemental Ring, because of the magicka-return passive. Between that and the champion point star that does similar things, I very rarely have a magicka issue.

    Beyond that:
    • Critical Surge goes in any sorcerer build.
    • A Wall of Elements morph goes in almost any magicka build.
    • A shield goes in almost any magicka build (sorcerers have more options).
    • Crushing Shock/Crystal Frags is my go-to single-target punch for sorcerers. I rarely find room to run Endless Fury as well.
    • The Atronach is my go-to ultimate.
    • If you need a healing pet, run it. I need it a lot less since I got Ring of the Pale Order.
    • Mad Tinkerer is a lot of fun as a set, and reduces incoming damage a little. But Blackwood is nerfing proc sets.
    • An AoE build has a lightning staff front bar, so my single-target skills go on an inferno staff back bar.
    • I run Boundless Storm frequently.

I'm even building like this for easy dungeons these days.

Edit: To be clear, in an easy dungeon I'm likely to be duoing and doing over half of group DPS, so my on-kill magicka return passive and CP star proc a lot.

There is no watch how things melt build anymore. You gonna have to put in some effort, wether you want it or not....
Even the Easysorc builds have 4 to 6 ability rotations.

There are all basic tipps here on the thread. Additionally, i counsel to take pulsar instead of ele ring. Rind is really wonky and will fire as often as it does not. That morph is haunted.

And spec for maxmagicka you do not need spell damage as high as Stamina Chars need Weapon damage.

For heavy attack builds I recommend noble duelist and undaunted Unweaver instead. Solo you will be melee anyways and the stats of ND/UU are stronger. Besides you can use easy stamsorc abilities to proc both sets. I had fun with crystal weapon>LA>HA. Really strong combo.
If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.
