So I bought a portable banker and it seems you can't use it in your own home? Why would that be?

You have to place the banker like an item from the menu. You can’t summon assistants as you would outside your house.

Pretty sure you can indeed summon the banker (and merchant) assistant in world as I do just that and many others also - assign them to the quick bar even for ease of access.

You cannot summon them in a house as you would outside of one. You will get an error message. In order to use one in a house, it has to be placed via the housing editor.

Note, you can put your banker and merchant in every house you own. No need to get multiple copies.

Ah I apologise - yes treat assistants as pets. In other words you can't summon them in homes.

I placed the banker kitty in front of my fireplace. It worked great.
