New Servers?

Wasn't there talk of this with Blackwood release?

Is this still a thing? I can't see the item/proc calculations and companion additions being a good thing without updated hardware. - Or was there changes to code to allow performance?

Just curious. Would like to know.

They said they were upgrading and replacing their servers but in the same statement also said there would not be any noticeable increase in performance, so make of that what you will.

The server hardware updates are for reliability, not performance. Sounds like they need it, based on the last couple weeks.

Wait for June 1st. Everyone with their shinny new companion running here and there making the server try to figure out all of them are supposed to be doing. Simultaneously. Server [snip]

Reliability is so that the server does suffer from component failure. Hard drives. Fans. Power supplies. Stuff like that.

Performance increases the ability of the server to handle players better/faster than the current server.

A tiny point of difference, but they did not say they were "upgrading" servers. They said ESO would get new servers. They used the term "new", not "upgrade". It's a small grammatical difference, but it could mean very different things.

They also said they were coming “this year” in the reveal. Is there a source for them supposedly coming with Blackwood specifically? There’s still half the year to go after that drops.

The specific quote was "updating and replacing."
