Looking at this board you'd think the game is nearly dead and trash

Nothing but whining and complaining

I've done it some too but damn, this board makes the game sound doomed and on its last legs with a dev team that can barely walk through their office doors without stumbling and derping to death

I dunno man. Game is pretty fun to me. Seems like the devs are doing aight for a game this size

Two weeks in a row of serious patch day problems on PS4 followed by a third week where serious issues get left on consoles without any end in sight and no word from community management of any kind. Add on edits and bans being thrown about over complaints and you have a significant portion of the playerbase rightfully wondering if it is simply too systemic to continue to support in good conscience.

And for the record I very much want to support the game, and do. To the tune of several thousand dollars in crown store purchases and sub costs since launch, including when I have been deployed. And before that countless and I mean countless bug reports and constructive posts from my time as a member of the original Psijic Order pre closed beta testing team. And white knighting for the game to my family, friends and guilds - for years.

So it isn’t just grousing and griping you are seeing but genuine care for the game by guild leaders and other influencers who at this point need to see a pivot before we reach a point where it starts bleeding over into other forums, podcasts and so forth.

So much could be done with better communication. It feels as if they are entrenched and defensive. That could be remedied quickly and easily by speaking to us. Telling us what is going on with Q&A on console patch days and assuring us that they have a plan to ensure it is not what we have to expect for the forseesble.

To me it's still the best MMO on the market at 15/month with a lot of content. I cant' complain. It provides me with the entertainment I need after a long day.

Much of that would be put to rest if they actually addressed the community directly instead of coming up with passive-aggressive cognitively dissonant solutions to the problems they create in the first place.

I love Elder Scrolls. I've played this game too long and invested too much money in it to leave it unless I want to bail on a lot of friends and walk away from hundreds of dollars. So I stick around, but I still complain because the stuff ZOS does is often unfair, and after 7 years fundamental issues that every other PVP game in the world can handle like skills firing on time, bugged content, memory edit/lag switch cheaters, and insane PVP lag still plague the game. Often, I enjoy playing it, but I don't trust it to deliver an enjoyable and bug-free experience from day to day. It's about 50% fun and 50% frustration/anger at how much of my time it wastes. When I find a game that is more reliably enjoyable with engaging IP, I'll move on.

I think the biggest issue is the lack of communication. There are bugs in every game but lately it’s been, fix one thing, break 3 more for TESO. Lots of us are a bit hard on the devs but a paying customer always expects the products to work properly and when they don’t, we expect a fix or resolve to be made in a timely manner. They haven’t.

Currently there are many things that don’t work properly and the lack of communication from anyone gives players a sense of no effort being made. I’m sure something is going on behind the scenes but we need to know that’s happening.

I am not sure what role the CM’s play on these forums but in my past experiences with CM’s from other games it’s to be the bridge of communication between the player base and the dev teams. The CM’s don’t seem very active here aside from posting blog links for incoming content or patch notes.

Sad to say, this isn’t new and has been an ongoing cycle for the 4 years I’ve been on the game. Stay a while and you’ll see.

I will say the lack of communication is astounding. Like the only communication we see is them editing post. With the amount of Z's attached to post you'd think some of the threads actually had developers speaking with us. Hardly ever see it.

This happens even in the coolest of jobs after novelty is gone, or when people gets too invested in the game. Coming from another mmorpg myself for this exact reason, I'm having a blast with ESO ( rpgs included) the lore is damn amazing, the liberty of "doing", class build possibilities, the amount of housing I can get, its all like a fresh summer breeze for me.

No dev communication whatsoever is disheartening. When they go on to release broken or unbalanced things it just comes up as "I told you so" or "devs never listen". Random changes, longtime bugs, or things left useless for years doesnt help either.

I do appreciate the very rare few companies who do communicate.

The part you are missing is that this is the only way for people with problems to communicate those back to ZOS and other players. People that don't have any issues with the game will be much less vocal while many will come here to voice their frustrations.

This really should be obvious ...

It's not dead and trash, but it certainly has problems that could be alleviated if the negative feedback here was actually considered.

    Examples?

The guild trader system needs a change, balance in the game is bad and needs changes, some combat bugs need priority fixes, installation bugs should be addressed (like MSVC not installing and the game apparently having no handler to let the player know how to install it), etc.

A lot of it are simple fixes.

While it's true that you cannot please everyone, ignoring the problem and not communicating is NOT the best thing to do. What it leads to is an unhappy community, or exactly what you just described.

It is in the nature of a game forum to bring up criticism. Its the best way to give input, and have discussions with fellow players.

Especially in the period of PTS, the forum is flooded with complaints and suggestions. Thats nothing bad per se.

PS: Did you just make a complain thread about complaints?! ;)

    No.

If you don't like the negativity on the forums you leave.

I'll spend my time how and where I want, thank you very much. If I want to spend my time playing a game that often frustrates me, I will. If I want to give voice to my frustrations in the only place available to do so, I will.

Obviously the game has good points that keep us playing. But it also has a staggering range of issues that are completely inexcusable in a supposedly AAA title developed and supported by as big a company as Bethesda.

Well if it is any consolation to you, the mods seem to agree with you and stay well away from considering things like you are saying bashing or baiting, but every time we take the time to respond in a thoughtful, considerate way we risk a ban if we slip and give an excuse, of any kind.

    So hey :)

    external groups are way harsher.

    Concerning the criticism itself:
many complaints are exaggerated, but still contain some truth.
E.g. the current inventory issues on console are really annoying, but not gamebreaking (as some people write).

Also announced nerfs often turn out to have far less impact on your playstyle as you might have expected from the reactions.
But they sum up, and over time nerf a + b + c can make a class you played for 2 years unrecognizable.

So you have to learn to interpret the reactions here in the forum: often emotional and too strong, but indeed containing a lot of truth.
What adds up is the restrictive way ZOS handles criticism: some replies and explanations instead of strict deletion certainly would help to tone down some messages.

For casual gameplay, the game has had so many awesome quality-of-life additions compared to the start, and these of course also benefit end-gamers, but end-game has been nothing but a roller-coaster of upside-down changes every few months for years now, and it's getting very tiring for players that get impacted by these things. Plus PvP performance has been steadily deteriorating, despite assurances that it would be their major focal point that they would work on. The game offers a myriad of activities, and most players don't even check the forums, that's why you see a trend here. For eg., next patch stam ove dds will be under pen with the new changes to CP, if a player doesn't know about that or not care because it doesn't affect them, they won't come in here and talk about it--if you are a stam main on the other hand, you will be baffled and will natuarally try to raise discussions about it.

Well, in a lot of players opinions, the game is turning trash.

It's the internet, so people will always be dramatic with feedback. But a lot of the threads are genuine feedback.

Some of us have played this game since launch and have seen a steady decline in quality of new content (as far as systems and stuff to keep us coming back), quality testing of patches, performance, communication from the devs and a lot of other stuff.

Saying people should leave the game is a bit short-sighted. Then the game really would die.

People just want to improve the game.

I've recently moved to PC (321 cp) from ps4 (1419 cp) and I can tell you far far more care goes into the game on PC.
Sure, a lot of it is Sony's way of handling updates, but if ZoS didn't break it in the first place, a fix wouldn't be needed.

Seems patch after patch on console is just broken. It's not getting better, but worse.
Routine maintenance patches shouldn't be breaking the game...but console is truly a afterthought.

Where else are these frustrated players supposed to go to voice the terrible care console received recently?
It's so bad, I've literally given up millions of gold, all my crown store purchases, including expensive houses and mounts....just to have a better experience.
And the difference in gameplay is worlds apart.

I've had enough of console being the red-headed stepchild...of course this is the place to come with complaints.
If you don't like those posts, the solution is a very simple one.

    Don't read them.
