We are currently investigating issues some players are having logging into the PTS. We will update as new information becomes available.

Companion Items 37 pieces x 4 color x 9 traits = 1332 items

You will need 1332 bag/bank space to hoard those 4 colors item [white, green, blue and purple] 9 different traits and 37 different pieces (21 armors [heavy, medium, light], etc) sure you could destroy the white as soon as you don't need but u will still need 999 slot to stock them... and a few double of some key pieces for your 2nd and maybe 3rd companions etc...

who is the genious that think that its fine to use player inventory to store them...

easy solotion would have been to drop companion augment glyph (different color, different traits) 4 color 9 traits = 36 total not 1332????!@#!@#!@#!@#
then we could have use the companion gear vendor to buy one white pieces of gear (one of the 37 different pieces) and augment it with the companion glyph vendor should supply the white color augment traits for initial companion setups...

sorry for my english but 1332 items for companions is a freaking tons of item to keep in our bags, or another freaking tons of years of grinding for each pieces
and your clearly said companion won't have their own inventory

please reconsider its not to late

Why would you keep the lower quality color when you get a higher quality one? I agree the system is a mess but it's not that bad.

At the moment it really looks like there will be a problem with the storage capacity, it would make sense to get an item set collection for companion´s equipment too.

you want to keep a 2nd set for your second toons, you not sure if you want them to be dps, healer or tank...

    i have 18 characters... about 12 dps, 3 healers and 3 tank...

i have already troubles of bank/bags on pts and i have like 12 hours of playtime... already own like 55ish companion items...

still keeping 9 companion trait glyph for 3 colors = 27 and make them stackable and it would have been way better...

imagine now you want to get an heavy chest, with the -2% defensive bonus purple... feel the grind! :pensive:

agree that i don't need to keep everything... but well my 18 characters will prolly want different roles for their companions... and i am not talking also about the fact, that you might switch your companion for a healer roles to complete something pick up his gear / swap... then do another random... and that time you need him to be the tank, but the tank gear is now on your previous characters :pensive:

if they could have release 3 companion i could have make 1 dps, 1 tank and 1 heal... and dont have to worry about farming them a 2nd or 3rd set :P but no they can't make it easy for us!

one fun note if you summon your banker, that dismiss your companion

some of us have multiple chars.

You don't need to keep exactly one of each item of every quality? Also, you can buy and sell pieces. So instead of storing a piece you don't need right now, just sell it. Then when you need another piece, buy it.

The companions store the armor pieces separately when they wear them. Also ... it's clear by now that they're so weak that these minor trait differences won't matter, because they'll never be that helpful.

That being said, I'd be open to a different gear system, such as relying on enchantments as you described.

well mine like to stay in aoe he likes the red area on the ground... i equip him with a resto staff. so he can heal... equip the skills but for like first 3 hours only think he was do is throwing punch with bare hands...

i didnt try fg1 yet... dint try to max all skills and go there... but so far i am not impressed

and one day when those companions start doing 60k damage you will say... i should have banked those purple companion gears!

never know what is crap now, might be golden in a year!!!!

I'm pretty sure it would take far more than 1332 slots to hoard every level, type, quality, trait of every item set in the game.

You don't need to hoard it all, you know. At some point you have to just sell or throw away the stuff you don't need.

That said, it would be nice for companion gear to be available through the collections menu.

    7 body pieces x 3 weights = 21 body armor
    5 staff, 4 one handed, 3 two handed, 1 bow, 1 shield = 14 weapons
    1 neck, 1 ring = 2 jewelry

    thats 37 different pieces... 9 traits ... 4 colors = 1332 different pieces lol
but sure you could right away destroy all white gear that would be 999 pieces
but again you could destroy green when you get blue, and blue when you get purple etc
and you need 2 rings, etc

still managing 37 different pieces, 9 traits and 4 colors is FUN ... we like IT aleady!

sure giving us a "shared" companion inventory, its too much...

    1st wish, companion inventory
2nd wish a system less bags/spaces micro managements (9 traits companion glyphs 4 color) 36 item to bank i can find space in my bank, or in a storage chest for that

a few 100's of purple/blue companion gear... too much!

So far it would seem that the burden of leveling/gearing them outweighs their usefulness...

Next thing we will have to feed our non-combat pets with foods specific to their 'classification' or they will die of starvation.

A separate gear system is simply a waste of time. Why not simply allow them to use hand picked sets from the ones that are available? Make a list like for PVP and done. It's the same mess like with gear motifs, costumes and outfits - when all that could be needed would be one collection that's account wide.

Why invent the wheel again when there is that sort of a system that players love - the sticker book.
    Kind regards,

Why waste inventory space on companion gear. They seem to be bad with or without gear. Besides, even if they were good, the less they do the more you have to improve yourself. Which is a good thing!

Evidently there's little point to saving any of the companion armor, since the first scamp you come across is going to take them down anyway.

I guess it would be better just to store all companion's stuff in companion's inventory. Since you cant use their gear and cant get any resource from it (for now) => profit... so why not?

Heresy. Tank comp is good af with proper gear and skills. And not for open world only but for dungeons too.
And there no such difficulty (xept trials\arenas) in TESO that requires "improvements" for player. If player not an idiot or newbie - everything would be ez af (and trials too).

I would really recommend increasing bank space from 240 to 300-400 at least. Without eso plus its almost impossible to even keep crafting materials alone with so many different styles out there with each patch,

don't expect extra players spaces! they want you to be eso+
companion inventory if they makes one will be eso+

They are not that bad. After hearing the horror stories, I took Mirri into normal FG1 with my Templar, restro back bar. I sloted a couple range skills and, this is key, Ghostly Evasion. Allows her to dodge an attack and gain 20% damage reduction for 8 secs. Used when she's below 75% health. Kept her from getting one-shotted, but she had a tendency to corner her self. She died once, and that was partially my fault. I tripped off the ledge into the water while she was cornered by the 4th boss. Still lasted for a while until I was able to swim around to get back up, and this was in base gear. Also, they appear to be account wide, so that's a plus.

Because there might be more companions in the future?

4 purple will always be better than, say, 2 purple, 1 blue, and 1 white, but keeping multiple copies is not in itself a stupid idea.

Seriously -- unless there are drastic improvements during the PTS cycle, this won't be a problem for me, at least at first. I'm in several top trading guilds, so I can sell whatever drops I get.

And I won't be buying Blackwood -- the first expansion I've ever skipped! -- so I won't need to keep inventory for myself.

Eventually, Blackwood will be offered for crowns, and I'll buy it, and my problems will begin. But perhaps there will be better solutions by then.

Whatever it is, these companions require far too much investment for a very poor return.
