So uhh, I bought ESO recently with all the expansion packs except for Blackwood. I was expecting to start the Soulless One's story as a Soul Shriven but I started out in Greymoor's storyline. How do I start at the Coldharbour storyline?

New characters always start in the newest chapter you own. It's a silly idea, really. People have been asking for a 'choose start' option for years.

That info will soon be outdated. Once Blackwood is released, all characters will start in a new tutorial from which you then get to choose your starting location. One of the options will be the Soulshriven in Coldharbour one but all the chapter starts are also there.

Is it confirmed that after the new tutorial we'll actually get to choose our starting storyline-- Wailing Prison in Coldharbour, Firemoth Island in Morrowind, etc.-- and not merely the zone we'd like to start in?

The patch hits the PTS on Monday and I have a character slot waiting to find out!

Me, too! I was just wondering if something was mentioned during today's stream, which I missed because I forgot about it because I had to deal with an automobile issue today.
So is it going to be a generic starting area like WoW did with Shadowlands or are we going to get the choice of which tutorial we want?
Because if it's a generic one with no choice, well it had better be good because that's what we will be stuck with.
Yep! I am waiting to start a new warden until blackwood drops. So i can start in the new tutorial and then play all content in order it was released. Ive never started a character in the OG story. Always Morrowind or later and had to port to where i wanted.
@Wataterp the links below are guides our guild put together to help with the Chronological Order of quest. There is one for the base game areas and one for the DLC's. They give information on where to locate the starting quest for each area.

These guides (and a few others) are available for all to view on the public area of the Vanquish website.

To start the Coldharbor storyline, travel to a major city and talk to the Hooded Figure. For you, the closest city right now might be Solitude, but you can also wayshrine to the starter city of your alliance city in Auridon, Stonefalls, or Glenumbra, where the Hooded Figure will also appear.

It's confirmed that it's a new tutorial in Balfiera, and then you basically wayshrine to a zone of your choosing afterwards (chapter zones or starter areas), ending up where that tutorial would have spit you into the world. You don't get the old starting storylines, unfortunately.

Is there a hooded figure in Solitude if so where exactly?

Don't wait. Do the 'new' starting zone to get some gear as Coldharbour is stingy as all hell when it comes to that. When you get out of the tutorial, run to the wayshrine, port to Solitude and ignore the quest as you run into the city. Run into solitude and get met with the Hooded Figure immediately and bam!
This is how I like to start, as I can get leveling with a destruction staff early, as opposed to having to finish Coldharbour and cross my fingers I get one.
