Would you like to see your companion on the character selection screen like we now see our pet and mount?

Yeah, that'd be cool. Especially if it works like pets and mounts, where if you don't have it equipped when you log out, it won't appear in the character selection screen.

Star Trek Online does that with their bridge officers, so when you log in, you see your character, their away team, and the ship, all rolled into a nice little pose. I wouldn't mind seeing that here, as well.

Either that, or the option to see all your alts as a group and you select who to play from there.

    That sounds incredible.

I'm the kind of person who writes my characters to all be distinct and have their own stories (to the extent that I haven't actually started most of them, I just have their backstories). To be able to see them all chilling together would be great. I'd love to be able to use alts as houseguests or something so I could get screenshots of them together, but that'd be really fun to see them all together as a posse or something.

They will be, there is an empty space behind the character and between the character and mount. Seems to perfectly fit a companion. And we can dress a companion in a costume/outfit style for a reason.

And 1 + 1 = 2! So they have already planned for it.

That makes sense and finally explains why the mounts in the background have been "shrunk" so that they now rather look like pets.

Perhaps you can then choose between the individual companions there?

I suspect it will work the same way as mounts and pets, showing the active one.

ZOS probably made this new charactercreation screen with companions in mind.

    Only if there is option.
Like, if I had companion active when I logged out, he might then appear on character selection screen when I login next time. In other cases, I only want to see my mount and pet.

    No.
Same as I would not want to see quest related followers while I have an active quest cluttering my char screen.

I wouldn't mind other people having the choice, but I wouldn't want to be stuck with them there by default.

I haven't tried ESO's system yet (I don't think it's on the PTS yet?) but I'm not a big fan of companions in other games. I tend to find them more annoying than useful. I never used the ones in Skyrim for example because all they seemed to do was get stuck in doorways so I coudn't get out the room and ruin my attempts to sneak.

Maybe ESO's companions will surprise me, but as it stands I'm expecting to do the quests just for the sake of doing them and then largely forget about the companions so I'd rather not have then stuck on the character select screen all the time.

Maybe? I may not even use them, in which case I certainly wouldn't expect to see them on the screen if I never activated them.... and if they are always there but I'm not messing with them, I wouldn't be happy about it.

This. I'm waiting until my friend tries them out before I decide. I've disliked companions in every game that had them (outside of early turn based games where you move them like chess pieces etc.) - so I'll wait a while to make that decision.

I personally don't think I would use a companion for long and just try them out to get a feeling for them, because quite frankly I simply don't need their help in combat, but while I have them active it would be nice to see them on the character select screen.
