They will be, there is an empty space behind the character and between the character and mount. Seems to perfectly fit a companion. And we can dress a companion in a costume/outfit style for a reason.
And 1 + 1 = 2! So they have already planned for it.
I suspect it will work the same way as mounts and pets, showing the active one. They will be, there is an empty space behind the character and between the character and mount. Seems to perfectly fit a companion. And we can dress a companion in a costume/outfit style for a reason.

That makes sense and finally explains why the mounts in the background have been "shrunk" so that they now rather look like pets.
Perhaps you can then choose between the individual companions there?
I wouldn't mind other people having the choice, but I wouldn't want to be stuck with them there by default.
I haven't tried ESO's system yet (I don't think it's on the PTS yet?) but I'm not a big fan of companions in other games. I tend to find them more annoying than useful. I never used the ones in Skyrim for example because all they seemed to do was get stuck in doorways so I coudn't get out the room and ruin my attempts to sneak.
Maybe ESO's companions will surprise me, but as it stands I'm expecting to do the quests just for the sake of doing them and then largely forget about the companions so I'd rather not have then stuck on the character select screen all the time.
