Mounted-Sprinting Speed 265% Only For Main Character, Other 8 Alts Are ~204%

Before Update 29 all 9 of my toons had the same mounted-sprinting speeds with a max of about 260%.

After Update 29, my main toon with the most achievements still goes 265% according to the MiniMap speed meter.

But my 8 alts all max at 204% mounted-sprinting.

All 9 of my characters have 60/60/60 mount training. I double checked this several times.

I have identical CPs for all my toons thanks to the nice Caro add on.

I tested in the same spots near Vivec City and was wearing no armor/jewelry/weapons and have the same Mundus (spell damage).

I even compared my High Elf Sorc 265% main toon vs my alt High Elf sorc so both race and class were the same.

I also tested mounted-running: main = 227% and alts = 174%.

The main/alt speed ratio is the about the same for both mounted-running and mounted-sprinting: ~1.3x

I'm really stumped.

I can only think that achievements somehow make a difference.

204% is nice but it feels noticeably slower than 265% and really makes a difference running around in Cyrodiil.

What am I missing?

The mount speed of Rapid Maneuver is changed to be 2nd effect of the passive Continuos Attack. Your main maybe the only has all skills passives. You won't have to slot Rapid to ride faster anymore

    Been doing some testing.

Base mount speed equals 115%. 60 pts of speed training on your mount stack additively for a base walk speed on a trained mount of 175. Sprint on a mount is plus 30 (not 40 like it is on foot).

So a maxed mount while sprinting goes 205% with no other bonuses.

Here is where it gets interesting. Unlike “Movement Speed” bonuses that stack additively on foot to a cap of 200%, mount speed bonuses seem to be multiplicative.

The two main mount bonuses are major gallop (30%, continuous attack passive) and Gifted Rider (10%, slottable CP) for a total of 40%. 1.4*205=287% . 287 seems to be max cruising speed while sprinting with a maxed horse and both buffs. Without gifted rider, you cap at 1.3*205=266.5%.

None of the other speed bonuses effect your mount speed in any way (racial passives, ring of the
Hunt, sprint speed bonuses, major/minor expedition, steed Mundas, etc). If it says “movement speed” it doesn’t effect your mount. I tested as many as I could think of.

It should also be pointed out that while sprinting at 287% speed on a mount, you can tap sprint again and you will burst to 300% for a short time. You seem to be able to do this about every 4-5 seconds. I believe 300% is a hard cap on movement or at least it feels that way. If they introduce a source of minor Gallop, and presuming it’s 10%, we would be at the cap.

Sprint speed on foot is simply additive and 200% is the cap. Lots of ways to get there. Out of combat, it’s easy to get there without sprint at this point.

@Golden_Cat - thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You are 100% right, my main has many more skills points than my alts and I have the Continuous Attack passive on for him.

@Oreyn_Bearclaw - many thanks for doing this testing and posting the details.

I'm mostly a farmer/writs player so running fast is important. I am 90-95% PvE in Cyrodiil so the 260% mounted-sprinting speed makes a big difference when doing bounties and town dailies. I think all my alts already have Assault rank 3 and spare skill points so all is well.

Thanks again for the great help!

Major expedition does from warden skill

Is did not specifically test warden, but major/minor expedition from retreating maneuvers had no effect on mount speed when I tested.
