The State Of PVP.

(Warning: Mild Sarcasm. This post is satirical in nature regarding the state of PVP and player commentary on it and if it offends you I do not care.)

Welcome folks to Update 29! The groundhog has spoken and we'll have 6 more months without proc sets in Cyrodiil! Isn't that great, using a total of 19 sets out of over 400 sets! Now, now, we're sure everyone is going to have a great time with this more skill based gameplay! Because if you weren't able to step out of a small red circle that healed your enemy and hurt you before, you're surely going to survive 10 seconds longer running around that tree before you desync and die anyway!

Now that we're live here, lets talk about class balance! Seriously, what is Stamden these days? Nerf Sorc? Nerf NB? Discussions of the past, friends! You surely haven't ever seen those 40k HP wardens with just as much burst as a fully-specced stamblade ganker? Or what about magblade; do they even exist anymore?

Don't enjoy Cyrodiil? Join the densely populated Imperial City, hopefully you'll get a good time or you might find a total of 10 players total over a few hours! (YAWN) I'm waiting til the next event for that!

Battlegrounds? Well mate, if that's your plan I've already arranged with the Divines to send you into 6 games of Capture the Relic, 3 games of Domination, 4 games of Chaosball, 2 Crazy Kings, and maybe if you pay me another $40 afterwards, you may be granted a deathmatch... To only be ruined by a cheese build of insert most hated class. (NERF!)

Now, now. I know what you're saying. "OP, This sounds great, I'm going to go have fun!" Well... Okay, you got me. Once you connect (If you're even able to *eyes up steam users*) be prepared for astronomically "good" performance and absolutely 0 crashes, 0 desyncs, 0 disconnects, and never-ever any remote hint of lag!

Thus signed,

Mr. ProcSetBad , Savior of Balance.

I think that the "no-proc" tests have showed something that might be a core PvP problem - Class Balance (or rather lack of it).

This "core" problem was not visible as it was covered in various gear sets (not only procs) that made some classes more or less playable and even competitive.

Now that a lot of sets are gone (again, not only condition or dmg dealing proc sets), we are down to like what.. 19 sets ?

So, with no good sets that will synergise with other classes strengths, all of the sudden class balance shifted, making some classes above S+ tier, and others below C- tier.

This also show how gear-dependent some classes are.

Now we need to ask ourselves a question:
Do we want (or do we think it should be the way) to balance classes around gear they are using, or maybe, classes should be balanced to be competitive (when comparing them) no matter what gear sets are in use.

ESO/ZOS has stated that more gamers are playing in the PVP areas more now. That being said, even I have taken up interest in going back to PVPing. Yes i`m still dyeing to the elite PVP gamers but it`s more enjoyable because I can stay in the fight longer. Say what you want but the numbers don`t lie, yesterday and Wednesday the campaign I run was almost filled. Before the update the midweek campaigns were low on attendance.

Forum wars aside, Cyrodiil is still more fun than it's been in a good two years at least right now.

I don't see the bad thing here. And tbh I'm in a deathmach in like 1 time every 3/4 games (and this is the game mode that I hate the most, there is no real strategy XD)x
    I'm a single character man.
    Stamblade. Khajiit. Mostly pvp.
    And...that's it.

you have to be brain damaged to think class imbalance was not visible before no procs. people have been complaining about it for so long, and it has been ignored for so long that saying 'it's only because of no procs' is like zenimax saying they care about performance or balance at all

I enjoyed the post and applaud your style. I think seeking for more balance in an MMO needs to be a never-ending goal where the team reviews both the objective and subjective data and makes small adjustments. It was very clear to me a month ago with my magden (very first character) that I had failed at the character select screen. I went back to the drawing board and rolled stam character for cyrodiil and that has been much better...

Agree on that, there was always some class imbalance. What I mean is, now, with very limited set choice in PvP (again, I do not mean only no dmg dealing proc sets, but also "non-porc" proc sets such as Chudan for example), the class imbalance became greater and it is more visible than ever before. If some one will go to Cyro PvP and will not notice that some classes are straight out OP/Broken, while others are barely playable, then Idk... :p It can not be more obvious than it is now.
