New character selection zoom gives motion sicknes

It used to go straight in, now it zooms in a curve and that causes unpleasant motion sickness feeling. I have already gotten multiple confirmations from guild members about this:

Is there a reason why it was adjusted that way?
Maybe a setting to change it back?
