Zenimax's dishonest approach to running "Tests"

LoveForElderScrolls
Zenimax runs "tests" like the no -proc sets in PVP for 3 weeks and when it didn't improve anything still wants to keep these "tests". This has not happened only one time and there are other examples like "disabling healing outside of groups test". Many people were wondering why the no-proc sets "test" was planned for a long period of 3 weeks. One reason might be that Zenimax planned it for 3 weeks so the community gets used to this "test" and planned to keep it even if it didn't improve anything. I think this dishonest approach is the reason Zenimax has not been able to fix and improve things.

Fairly sure this is going to be locked anyway, but if you want to continue the conversation, try to frame it in the context of constructive criticism.

I don't know if it is really dishonesty, or honestly not knowing what they are doing.

Forcing tests upon your players on the live server is one thing to discuss about, what they did next is just... I still hope it's an April Fools joke, because this is the biggest troll move ever. Not being able to use 90% of the sets, throwing away farming time and value of DLC's and Chapters from actual PvP players.

My theory: they never intended to fix it, because they know it's too far gone.

They lost the last bit of respect I had. We moved to a different game.

Assuming a malevolent intention is malevolent in itself. ☝️

The proportion of amount of data gathered compaired to number of players and their possible gameplay choices has to be right, if you want to extrapolate the impact on performance. Otherwise there is no evidence based conclusion. Only conjecture, however well educated or erudite. How many millions of players play PvP? Huh?🤔

What we see is, that gathering data with a wildly volatile playerbase is keeping ZOS from having reliable data for analysis.

I think its important to remember that "No Proc PVP" was never going to be just a pure test of performance.

I mean, I've seen posts advocating for the removal of proc sets for years now. There's a certain segment of the vocal playerbase who wants PVP to be skill-based, not set based. There's also players with the theory that the Devs can better balance PVP if they have limited sets/builds. The "separate PVP and PVE" crowd likes this idea because it limits cross-content nerfs.

None of those ideas are new. They've been floating around in PVP discussions for years. The removal of Proc sets wasn't just a performance test. It was a three week crucible to test those theories about whether or not players actually liked "skill-based" limited set PVP.

It shouldn't be surprising that ZOS looked at gameplay feedback from this test as closely as they did the performance improvements (or lack thereof.) The gameplay feedback for no-procs was largely positive, so again, not exactly surprising that ZOS decided on another "behavioral change" based on what they heard and saw during the test.

Now, we get til Q3 to decide if we like it "for real" or not, and if we don't like it...well, better make that known loud and clear.

They kept it because everyone wanted it to stay. I guess you have not talked to other players the past 3 weeks?
