Q: BiS PvE stam sets after FoA goes live

Hello PTS testers!

I'm pretty sure I will re-roll my main magplar to stamplar after FoA goes live, so I would like to start collecting gear in advance. What PvE stam gear is most likely going to be BiS?

I've heard Selene is going to be nerfed. So what about BiS monster sets? Relequen stays the same? Lokke? Berserking?

I have very short time and exp. playing Stam builds so I would really like to know veteran players opinion.

P.S. I was playing mag builds for the past 6 years. Now with new champ system I wanna try and take fresh breath for my main.
Looking forward to read your predictions and opinions.

From what I’m seeing stam sets that are BiS now should be pretty much the same once FoA goes live. Also Selene isn’t really being nerfed so much as being made more reliable. For classes like stamplar it could be considered a nerf however most other classes it’s overall a buff. Personally speaking I’m moving my stam classes away from monster sets and moving towards arena weapons. My mag classes will still run monster sets tho.

So 5+5 and arena weapons? vMA Bow and for duals ?

For classes like dk and necro with dots vma duals other classes depends more what dw weapon skills you use. Also master bow would be a stronger pick over vma bow

with the big loss to pen some of my stam toons will be moving to kra'gh that were in selene's. Like it was said stamplars will see a drop in dps with selene's (I have had jabs proc it back to back) and anyone duel wielding as bloodthirst could get back to back procs as well. On the other hand selene's is turning into AoE I believe instead of single target so that is to be considered as well.

According to the patch notes, berserking is getting a nerf. How bad in reality? No idea.

Also, Indications are daggers, maces, swords & axes could be the new world order.

Sticking with Rele + AY on dummy fights (e.g. Yolnahkriin fight) and Yandir + AY anywhere else (we have Jorvuld+RO healer in our trial group so Lokkestiiz is pointless) and adding Slimecraw 1pc + Grundwulf 1pc. Crit damage remains unchanged while crit chance is nerfed, so crit chance sets are even more needed than before :disappointed:

However, Maces/Mauls seems like very good option. Mauls are certainly BiS (crit damage is high even without Battleaxe, weapon damage is high even without Greatsword, only penetration is something we should be after) allowing you to go precise and still retain sufficient penetration levels.

How do maces and daggers compare? My understanding was that with crit chance lowering, DW daggers will help mitigate that, but I'm seeing a lot of talk about maces.

My current set up planned is to dual wield 2 AY Daggers (Nirn & Sharpened) Frontbar with 2 Infused BRP Daggers Backbar.

Was wondering if anyone did any parse tests comparing daggers and maces. I would test myself, but ya boi's lacking hard drive space lmao. Is there a noticeable disparity?

This set no longer has a 15% proc chance and is now guaranteed to proc on any non-proc Melee Damage.
Increased the cooldown to 6 seconds, up from 4.
Reduced the damage dealt to 11754, down from 13364.

Overall, this is a nerf regardless if you're using rapid-hitting abilities such as Rapid Strikes or Jabs, or singular attacks due to it's cooldown increase and damage reduction. I can anticipate few monster sets outperforming Selene such as Domihaus which is already on par or better in most situations.

No. Selene is not changing into AoE.

I am exactly like you, maining magplar for 6 years then I switched to stamplar just last patch. It is a very fun transition and I think you’ll enjoy it.

On the pts, the biggest problem facing stamina classes in general is the lack of sufficient penetration because magicka dps will be at 17k out of 18k penetration without even trying (maxed at 18k with perfected maelstrom staff). As a result, the heavily nerfed alkosh will never again be used in trials where magicka dps are present (so, all of them).

This means, reaching that penetration cap is up to you. Running double maces in sharpened with all the cp in penetration, then adding the minor and major breech only got me to 17k out of 18k penetration.

Because of this new need to find penetration sources ourselves, crit chance is much much lower. Building for crit with precise daggers and AY compared to building for penetration with sharpened maces in the Deadly set resulted in a MASSIVE dps advantage to the Deadly set focusing on penetration. Deadly was only marginally worse than AY for update 28, but next patch with the nerfs to crit chance and the need for penetration leads me to believe that Deadly will be the new go to for stamplars.

Also, while I liked the playstyle of stamplar much more than magplar, don’t expect to get into too many veteran dlc trials because most groups are allergic to stamina. PvP is more fun though

For your 17k is this accounting major minor breach as well as infused crusher? I’ve figured out if a tank is running an ideal set up for stam dps groups should only need to build for about 3k of personal penetration into your gear. Mind you this is considering you get the penetration from cp system.

I main a stam dk running relequen deadly body jewelry while using master infused bow and maelstrom dw so accounting for changes coming I’ll likely run dual maces for penetration in precise trait and the thief mind is to make up loses in penetration.

I can’t test on pts as I’m on console but glancing over the changes overall my dps loss won’t be as severe but my sustain is going to significantly increase thanx to buff to my health stats at base overall meaning I can run mono stat recovery food.

Final note if anyone wants I’ll type out suggested tank gear for an all stam dps trial group.

    Boss resists 18200

    Debuffs from your tank:
    Major Breach 5940
    Minor Breach 2974
    Infused Crusher 2108
    Tremorscale 2395

You get 1400 penetration from CPs.

So you need to find only 3300 penetration.

    That's really easy to fill,
    1) 3300 from Maul or 2x Maces,
    2) 3000 from Sharpened mace off hand and forget the 300 missing pen,
    3) 3137 from non-sharpened mace in off hand and Yandir set (I can't think of better set when your healer is running Jorvuld + RO which he will in most serious groups, and you can't use Relequen effectively)
    4) 3150 from non-sharpened mace off hand and being a Necromancer
    5) ...

There are plenty of options now and reaching pen cap on stamina is easier than ever.
