I have to give a shout-out to the the good ZOS folks and developers of the game. I'm really liking the sounds, effects and music going on with Greymoor. Ever since Elsweyr, I've been playing the game with earphones on just jamming away to my favorites tunes. I didn't like the music scores with Elsweyr so much. It was too chaotic for me; sounded like mad savages or vikings rampaging through a foreign land wreaking havoc and genocide or something. Well, I recently bought a converter piece for my TV so I can use my earphones and tested it out while I'm on ESO. Of course the converter worked, and I was astounded by the general overland music scores. I'm really digging the music going on currently with the game; very smooth, easy listening elevator-ish style music scores. You can really sense the calm surrender and serenity with the notes, rift and solos of the various type of instruments being orchestrated and complied together.

I have been playing the game more with earphones on, and with the converter device, a lot of the sounds and effects of the game are amplified. You can actually hear all the sounds and the ambience, the birds chirping, running creek, the crackling of the cooking fire to another player getting a beat-down nearby. Even the sounds of the mount upon activation and action roar sound nice. I am also enjoying the sound of combat very much. Though the combat sequence of this game is so often sluggish and clunky with its misfiring and delayed actions, I am still enjoying the sound effect of the skills; from the splash of the Lightning Flood, thrashing away with Puncturing Sweeps or Biting Jabs to Hurricane, Wrecking Blows and whatnot, it just sounds like you're hitting harder. I'm even appreciating the singing of the NPCs in Summerset and Rimmen. Kudos to the singers; nice angelic voices.

Yeah, for someone like me who just enjoys going around the game doing dailies, killing bosses, dragons to leveling up toons, scrying and other overland things; with the current music scores, it just makes frolicking around more enjoyable. You can just take it slow and take in all the other sounds of ambiences, animals and other things going on. There are really a lot of things going on in the environment and surrounding. In addition to the beautiful landscaping, graphics and detailed characters, you can't help by see how much hard work and efforts the developers have put into creating the game. Oftentimes, the game is just marred with bluescreen crashes, game freezes, bugs, glitches and whatnots, and we often forget to appreciate the level of complexity of the game; in its entirety. Just kudos and applauses all around to the exceptional efforts ZOS and the developers have put in developing and maintaining the extraordinary game!

You know what.. just for the moments when you're in playing this game just listening to the music scores and whatnots, it just helps you to forget the craziness currently going on in the real life world. Yeah, it's just a game, but surely can help get you through the rest of your day or evening; amidst the chaotic life away from the TV or computer screen. I'm just hoping the music scores with Blackwood will be as enjoyable as well.

This is a wonderful game. The arts well done, music and sound is excellent, there are alot of interesting systems and a massive amount of content. It also has a great business model and regular updates.

where it falls apart a bit is on both tail ends aka pvp and trials. I would wager 90%+ of complaints originate here.

I was just noticing last night playing in the woodelf area Grahtwood etc. How much detail has gone into building these beautiful landscapes. I crested a hill and came to a waterfall and I stopped and just marveled at how beautiful it was. I have been listening to the music and ambient sounds too, it draws you into Nirn and makes you feel a part of it. Nirn is so big, I have to stop and just run around sometimes just to admire the landscape. The art and music are amazing. Let's just leave mechanics outta this conversation.

I generally enjoy all of the music of the game, but I also didn’t like the Elsweyr music at first.

The strange choral notes always reminded me of old B sci-fi movies for some reason. Took me weeks to get used to it.

Good that you got used to it, but I couldn't; hence been playing the game with earphones on just jamming away on my lengthy playlist since Elsweyr B).

I am glad to have recently re-experienced all the sound and effects of the game. I mean, I was playing the game, prior to Elsweyr, without earphones on; but I don't recall it ever sounded so good as the amplified sound and effects with earphones and the converter device. Well, you can't ever beat jamming on some good music, and I still had enjoyed playing the game without the game sound and effects. However, it is like a renew love interest of the game with the current soothing music scores and hearing all the different outlying sound and effects of nature and the environment.

It is definitely a renewed appreciation of the game and talents of the game designers and developers as well as all their hard work and efforts into the game. Just look at all the color scheme, depth and detail of things. NPCs playing instrument are even mimicking real life musicians with their fingers moving and strumming each cord as they play. Ha ha, nice. I also love how the involuntary movement and emote of the characters; how the eyes blink intermittently, yawning, and head moving to look at other players, etc. However, I would like their hair to be more in motion intermittently like when a breeze brushes the hair or gown/dress swaying a bit, or something of the likes.

Yeah, definitely, you tend to forget (just for the moment) when the next bluescreen or game freeze is going to happen and just enjoy the game for the moment. :)

Actually this game is one of my favourite waste of time.

Let me elaborate on the concept of waste of time.

As a creative personally I need my brain to expand but not explode. I cannot keep doing "productive" work all the time, my brain needs a little playtime. So then I play games.

Games, for me, are mostly something I have on the computer but seldom use. Having a multitude of apps is rather an understatement. This is absolutely work-related as I do sometimes /s make music for games.

I have even less convincing arguments for my other hobbies ;)

I play with weird synthesis and random music iterations to trigger hopeful creations. I play games to fire up unrelated synapses.

ESO is the exception. I used to boot to my BootCamp partition occasionally for Divinity, but that was before ESO.

Oh.. I hear you. ESO, like any other games, is that is it; it is just a video game for entertainment and passing the time (or good waste of time, as you mentioned.) After work and when I have downtime to kill, I enjoy coming onto ESO and just frolicking around a bit and enjoying the gaming experience and killing time. Also helps that all of my female toons are eye candies. :D ha ha. Yeah, just taking the toon around, exploring, killing time and helping other soloists of the game.

To each their own how people/players enjoy the game. Others enjoy the game by killing other players and being killed themselves likewise; whereas, others take it a bit more seriously and are more dedicated to the game by spending countless hours and hours toying away in trial's progressive group, or chasing the Master Angler, Grand Master Crafter or Flawless Conqueror title. Hey, whatever your slice of the pie is; this game offers it all!

Jumping in and adding my appreciation for a lovely game. I join and relax by just mucking about or I can do some serious questing/ monster bashing. They have given us a wide selection of things to do without decreasing the value of what we have.

Only slaves think they need to be productive all the time. Good for you. I also quite enjoy wasting my time and accept your reasoning.

Sound design in any game is super important, it's what makes me love or hate a game. The music of this game has always been such a treasure. It really sets the mood for some relaxation, especially when you're out in the open world. I was in Summerset last night, just got done crafting, and walked out of Alinor to some ruins a little outside the city. Took in the sunset and just relaxed. Even Markath, which the last year's expansions haven't been my favorite, has a GREAT soundtrack. Murkmire, in all its swampy glory, is made better by its soundtrack.

This game doesn't have to be work. Your DPS will progress, you'll get the skill points, and you'll level up. It's nice to have a platform that also lets me just relax.

Yeah, I'm digging rolling around greater Tamriel with amplified sounds with the earphones. Damn, I thought, a couple times, the thunders were really outside in real life. When I looked outside and is clear out, I was like woah! Ha ha. I still flip back and forth to my music playlist, but definitely the game is more enjoyable with the music and sounds with Greymoor. Enjoy it while it lasts, cause don't really know what's to come with the next chapter.
