Logged in to find every add-on setting suddenly wiped out.

Addons are handled by -you-.


Check the addons selection and see if enable out date addons is enabled if not check it. As well lack of information have you been gone for years and logged in? If so then your addons are useless and re-download. If you haven't then might want look at your hardware or software. Worse case if you addon folder is populated and its not reflecting then a repair or reinstall then.

I know of one instance where the disappearance of addon settings will occur and that is when you change your @username. Settings are saved to your username in the files in /SavedVariables/. Other than that, I don't know but, I can relate; it's a bummer to lose those settings.

Sorry I left out context. Here you go: I've been playing ESO since T1. I play almost every day. I have around 50 addons, and have been managing them since the start, so I'm not new to that. I DO use Minion, but haven't needed to apply any update for the past week or so. I was playing with all my usual addons & settings last night. All the addons and settings files are present. The addons are loading. No LUA errors popped up. However, every customization, in every addon, appears to be reset to default.

I had a similar problem multiple times that eso seemed to switch between using my windows user folder or the generic program data folder. You can check if you have the same problem by looking into these two folders:

1) User folder found under: C:\Users\*your_username*\Documents --> does an 'Elder Scrolls Online' folder exist here? If so when was it created?

2) Generic program data folder (note: to see this folder you must first make hidden folder visible!) found under: C:\ProgramData --> again, does an 'Elder Scrolls Online' folder exist here? If so when was it created?

If you find eso folders under both directories, then its most likely that for whatever reason eso switched which one it uses. To fix your problem just copy paste the correct one with your addon files and overwrite the other.

Thank you.

ZOS's change to account name handling appears to be the root cause. My original settings still exist, hiding under the covers. I'll have to do some careful search-and-replace to re-link the LUA settings.

My addons are working fine but glad I looked at this thread to note the problem others are having. And thanks to the helpful info here, I've bookmarked this thread in case I have similar problems in the future.

After a day or two the account name reverted back to the proper apostrophe, and the escape sequence no longer appeared. I was able to go back to my backups and restore those settings files, and I assumed that was the end of that bug. That was about a week ago.

Today the problem is back. WTF?

I haven't added or removed any addons.
