The community has been pretty vocal, and vastly united in it's desire to be able to select Deathmatch (or have Deathmatch occur more frequently) when playing battlegrounds. There are a number of ways this could be implemented.

I'm very hopeful we will see this change in subsequent PTS notes this cycle. It really doesn't seem like it would be very difficult to implement, and there is very widespread support for it in the community. Needless to say, I and many, many other players will be very disappointed if this change doesn't occur with update 29.

Not being able to select death match is the single worst change ever made in this game. Deathmatch bgs were the most fun activity this game offered and now DM players are forced to run around ignoring the objective in objective games. It’s horrible

I'm personally significantly less motivated to queue for BGs (my primary in-game activity) when I know that most of the time I'll be playing game modes I'd prefer to avoid.
