Long time ago player returning, questions

Got the game way back in 2014, played for a while. Got a main to level 30, and a couple alts a few levels for crafting, 2 professions on each, this made sense back then.

So, I've come back to play for a bit. Got the latest content and ESO+. Made a new character.

I am going to play the new character up to level 30 and see if I want to switch back to my old main or not... also to reacquaint myself with the game and story lines (same path as my old main).
I looked up the "story line order" guides, so I did the tutorial, Coldharbour and now the first island area.

Question: What the heck should I do about crafting? Just start over with the new character and do it all on 1 now? Still use the alts (which I'd rather not because I don't have too much time to play). Make my old main a crafting guy? He'd still have to learn the other 4 profession, the old main has Blacksmith and Enchant I think.

Thanks for any advice on crafting setup, or anything else for a long time ago, returning player. Thanks!!!!

Plenty of skill points to have all crafting, & other skill lines, on one toon. I'm not an alt fan at all & have well over 300 skill points on my main master crafter.

My first toon (old main) was turned into my crafter. I do not use him for anything but crafting. When i did this i turned another toon into my main and focused quests/achievements with him. You could also turn the crafting character into a mat farmer equip : wild hunt ring and other sets for speed.

Don't worry too much about crafting till you get to max level at CP 160. What you can do in the meantime is deconstruct all the clutter you end up collecting as you do the quests and explore the world. By the time you get to the end the sheer amount of things you would have deconed would put your character at a very high, if not max, crafting level. Then it's about slotting skill points and mass producing/deconing stuff to finish off the last levels you need.

When it comes to trait research though I'd research the meta traits first as it'll allow you to make them first. Due to the way research works you could spend over a year fully researching a single character.

So just start over with my new main, and make him a "do it all" crafter? Fine with this if this makes the most sense for me. Thanks.

... or possibly not do too much crafting till I catch my new guy up to my old one, then make a choice who is going to my main for the rest of the game?

Leveling crafting doesn't take any effort in this game.

Visit crafting stations to research traits you don't have, & deconstruct the rest you don't equip with the drops you gain from playing.

No actual crafting of an item.
