So last night i thought i would be nice abd help a new to game guild member get started. Made him training gear and gave him 200k fir bag space. Did i get a thank you? Nope, instead i git told "i am not afraid to report you". I laughed abd asked fir "what? Being too nice?". Then i thought about it, as an ex csr what would it be like to get that report. A sea of complaints due to scams and then suddenly you get a complaint about some one helping.

If the story went down exactly as you described, I'd probably just laugh at first, assuming he was joking. If he wasn't joking, I'd ask in all honesty what the issue was as he was annoyed by something. I'd also remove from the guild for safety if he would actually report you for offering to help. Who knows what sort of things he'd do to sabotage the guild later on if he would report for giving him some gear. As a guild master, I don't want to worry about people reporting helpful members. It's not worth the stress.

People are strange. I had someone report me (they said they did, anyway) because I accidentally whispered them from the chat box and then whispered them a second time to apologize. This was "harassment."

Obviously you're not worried about the outcome, and you shouldn't be, because nothing will come of it. Low key pity the person that has to look at all the reports, but I hope yours gives them a moment of amusement. 😛

Eh, people are just - weird - right now. This has not been a normal year with normal reactions by any means. Some of us are old enough to just shrug and go on when weird stuff happens. And weird stuff isn't dependent on just this horrible year either....

I mean by that - I've had to deal with "weird stuff" my entire adult life. I grew up in Vegas - now that's weird enough to get some truly odd reactions from people IRL. Like the man who sat next to me on a plane to DC one time (this was back in the mid 80s) - he was pushy, and I gave him throwaway answers as needed. So when he asked what I was doing in Vegas, I said "I live here" - and he expressed shock and said (I kid you not) "People LIVE there?"

I chose to pretend sleep at that point. Serious. Honestly, the longer I live the more I wonder about people....

Definitely remove from guild as in not someone you want to have close.
And no idea that went on there.

My only theory is that if some did something like that in real life you would be a bit skeptical.
Yes most would want the gift too keep coming but its pretty obvious the other part want something back.
For an paranoid snowflake well they know you don't have good intentions, its not like they have ever helped anybody.

And yes this is an reason reporting somebody don't have fast responses. Pretty sure its blacklists for reporting too.
An friend of mine had an neighbor from hell second day she reported him to the police for some insane reason, think it was leaving the car running to heat up.
He called the police who told him to ignore it, they was very aware of her.

could it had been they felt you was being overly nice and may want something un reasonable back as there has been past issues of player taking it to fair for helping someone get things in game

Guilds I'm in, it's quite normal for people to give away crafted training sets to new players for free. Perhaps it was the 200K that came across as overly generous?

was the other female ?did something get miss understood ? text/voice?

theres an lot un seen to what may have made them feel the need to warn of reporting , tho being nice aint reason to report there has to be something somewhere that turn this from an nice act to an reportable act to them being it the 200k or the way something was said / came across /

or just maybe there are crazy people out there that think others should get reported for being nice

    I say its a lot :)
Now I would obviously be happy and hope for more stuff down the line. I would also be very supportive of the guild.
If it had weird rules or demanded a lot of me I could just leave anytime.

Now in real life I would been suspicious as in if they asked me to sign some papers I would read them very carefully :)

I wouldn't think much about it. Maybe there just is no logical reason. There are all kinds of strange people (although I have the impression that ESO is a rather friendly place compared to others) - just ignore it and move on.

Yeah my guess is that the other player is a woman and she's responding like that due to past experiences with perceived overlt generous players who wants something in return later on. I say perceived because 200k isn't really that much for someone who has played any amount of time. It would have been a lot for me when I started but as of right now that's about a week's earnings from my trade guild, on a slow week.

I don't usually help with crafting requests, because i'm always in cyro groups and busy. However one day i happened to be on my crafter and some new guild member asked for cp80 or something like that, training gear for few sets. So i thought for once i'd do it, i had some appropiate mats left in craft bag, which i would naturally never need myself anymore. So i crafted for free, using my own mats and made them blue quality and all. And after the person got them, they didn't even say thanks. I mean, nothing. They just put on the guild chat something like "well, im now all geared up". It was not a big deal to make them, but really. I will never craft again anything for anyone. I was a bit butthurt.

The person you sent all that stuff to probably thought you were expecting something “more” in return. They might have even thought it was some kind of gold trading scam and that you’d demand real money in return.

I know 200k gold isn’t a lot, but I’d also be a bit suspicious if some stranger sent me a lump sum of gold just for joining a guild. If they’re really a new player, they might not have realized that 200k gold isn’t a lot.

Nothing i can think if as my limited conversation with them was in guild chat. And it pertained to me asking what spec they are leveling in and then telling them i sent gold to expand their bag. Its not unusual for my guild to help. Heck my guild leader gave away more then i to new players (think max bag and bank amounts) it is their first mmo outside if a week of WoW or so they said. Might of been the horror stories that ppl tell about mmos had em spooked. Spoke with their friend and they said he us just an idiot some times but i personally dont know.

While true, see my above post as i informed them that gold would be enough to almost max out bag space
