I made a dark elf sorcerer called Iorwerth, which is an old Welsh name I thought could pass for a dunmer name. Almost as soon as I got out the tutorial I had someone message me to say it should be spelled 'Iorweth' and I really should have made him a wood elf. It happened twice more before I found out they thought I was trying to re-create a character from the Witcher.

For unrelated reasons I ended up re-making him and changing the name to Ilorwerth (and even more obscure variant of the same name) which seems to have fixed that problem.

Other than that not a lot really. I had someone trying to hit on my fat old, heavily scarred nord DK which was weird. I think I was tired and not in a great mood so I just logged out rather than trying to figure out what to say in response.

I also had some creepy guy just following my female breton around Daggerfall playing the flute behind her whenever I stopped. He didn't say anything for ages then just randomly informed me she'd be pretty without the scar and I should remove it. If I'd owned the markings pack I'd have switched to the one where 1/2 their face is burned. :D

My Argonian Healer is called "Smells-what-rock's-cookin" and during a trial, 1 guy sung the whole of The Rock's WWE theme entrance via voice chat.

At random points during other trials, he'd randomly shout catchphrases of The Rock.

He left the game a few months ago but never said he was leaving. I hope he's ok

Back after Scalecaller but before the dragon bone motifs was released I ran Jorvuld’s Guidance on a healer.
Got some questions about the style in group chat.
Guess other had gotten the same with items not as styles.
One was memorable I got question about the Jorvuld’s robe, the clan mother title and the ja khajiit raz pet.

Also the sad male Orc in an dress who learned that clan mother was pay to win and that he would end up as clan father anyway who in my opinion sounds less cool.

I've had quite a few people over the years whisper me saying how pretty my Khajiit are. Usually from other Khajiit players. I really appreciate that. I've noticed that so far, I've been the only person to use the Shadow Stripling body marking on a black fur Khajiit to give it this mocha brown striped fur pattern. She's pretty unique that way.

Just remembered an old one which wasn't specific to me, but was quite amusing: A new player in Daggerfall kept asking how people put "invisible letters" in their names. No one could figure out what he meant at first, he just kept saying "how do you do an invisible letter" and "what do you type so the letter is invisible?"

Eventually someone cracked it and asked "Do you mean a space?"

Apparently that was it. He'd never played a game which let you use spaces in character names but had played one where players discovered a specific special character would glitch out and not show, so they used that as a space and he thought everyone was doing it in ESO. :D

He was so excited, but there was a bit of a delay before we found out just how happy he was, because he immediately deleted his character and came back with the name he'd actually wanted, complete with space.

Way back in the first year of the game I had a Breton vampire character who was meant to be seductive and dressed as revealingly as you could manage in those days, I think in the infamous and now long gone Redguard midriff top, and someone whispered to me "what a cute innocent vampster". :D

Most of my characters are average-looking so they rarely get comments, and my more bizarre characters are rarely leaving storage.

But there were two comments/events I remember:

    1.About three years ago.
My - pretty unspectacular - Imperial main (who is my main crafter) tends to dress for the occasion/weather/his surroundings; one day he was touring Eastmarch when an Altmer sorceress passed by. She stopped and invited him to a duel - I usually don't do duels on the crafter but had nothing better to do and thought, 'Oh well, why not'. Of course she wiped the floor with him, and when he got up again, the sorceress complimented him on his fine winter outfit and asked me what he was wearing. I gladly told her.

    2. Sometime last year when Markarth came out.
I have a rarely played RP char who dresses like a Dwemer. He also looks somewhat Dwemer-y, rides a vamidium, is accompanied by a Dwemer spider, uses Dwemer mementos and has a Dwemerish-sounding name. But in 'reality', he is just a Xivkyn posing as a Dwemer - the name is just as suited for one of their kind, and this is why this char has a Xivkyn poly on his quick select wheel.
When loitering at the initial Reach wayshrine, he was approached by a level 3 character.
Lvl 3 (in zone chat): "Hey fake Dwemer, [expletive]!"
    I : "Excuse me?"
Lvl 3: "Don't ya know Elder Scrolls lore? There are no Dwemer in ESO, [expletive]."
I really don't like to be called [expletive], so I zone-texted back: "YOU BLEW MY COVER, PUNY MAN - NOW DIE!" and transformed. I actually expected the guy to challenge me to a duel, but he just ran away...?
Anyway, I and some of the folks around the wayshrine had a good giggle.

I created my first female character and within maybe two minutes of hitting the first town another player asked if they could make a bow for me. Nobody ever offered to make a bow for my male characters. She has received many compliments some about her appearance and some about what she was wearing.
Probably the meanest thing said was another player whispered me 'how is chemo going'. Didn't bother me but I can see where that comment could really upset other players. Most nasty thing I can't repeat without getting a time out and others might get a time out just for reading it. Was bad. My response may have been worse. After my response the reply was 'you're ugly anyway' and then he ran out of my life forever.

I think the most funny was when the game just started. I have a character I named Shirley I Jest. I was loitering outside a dungeon looking for a group (before group finder was a thing) and was invited to join a group that already had three. When I joined one of them posted oh good/nice/cool anyway some word that was positive we will go with good. Anyway she posted oh good an all female group. I corrected her that Shirley is indeed a male as am I. THe conversation that followed was the funny part. We took our time in the dungeon chatted for a while and it turned out they were in a lesbian only guild. Offered to invite me anyway if I wanted to join.

This is Shirley I Jest (oh and some players have told me they like the name).

Someone once bothered to send me a whisper telling me my female orc sorcerer was fat. This was back around game launch. I'm sad they changed the sliders, I still have her set to as thick as possible but now you can't give chubby girl toons as much of a belly as you used to be able to. Her derriere is still quite respectable, at least.
