Why not make every/most of the items tradeable?

Why not make every/most of the items tradeable?

I play this game for 3 years now, i've done so many Maelstorm Arena runs and i still didn't get Inferno Staff, rng sucks for me, at this point i feel heavily demotivated to even continue trying.
Why can't i buy the Staff?

I remember every time i grinded through a dungeon for hours or even days to get my gear,
Why can't i buy it?

It wouldn't ruin dungeons because people who could afford gear would buy it and people who would want to earn money would grind gear and sell it so dungeons would still be full of people, the same goes for trials.

The only reason i could imagine why you wouldnt make every gear tradeable is because most of the people would stop buying your DLCs beacuse they could buy the new gear instead of grind it

I completly agree with you but i think i've figured out why zos is doing it.

At the moment the leveling system in eso is broken. The champion points are frozen since murkmire and zos admitted it need a rework.
Since the leveling is absent rare trial sets have taken the place of experience gaining in endgame.
The reason why we can't purchase or craft the best sets is that they are needed as a reward to power up end game players and keep them farming all new chapter to get the most powerful new gear.

At the end of the day it comes down to money, especially with the DLC related stuff.

Think about it for a moment but when you look at the sets you can sell that come with a new DLC how long does it take before every guild store is stuffed to the gills with these sets? Now think about the new set collection system ZOS implemented with Markarth and how that'd impact items being bind-able.

If nobody has an incentive to get the new content they'd never buy it, and that's ultimately a loss for them. There's also the situation where people want rewards to have more meaning, which is why you see the dye system locked behind achievements for instance.

Now this being said.... it would be nice if drop rates you get are dictated by the stickerbook. Like if you're missing some pieces it increases the chances of acquiring those pieces over the others. So when you complete the whole set the drop rates normalize, but helps you get everything completed a bit faster.

I'm not sure this is the case. As you have said getting certain pieces to drop is a crap shoot. Better ways of making gold than trying to farm sets.

Completely agree. Make all gear BoE, so we can trade them outside group.

It's like selling/buying a carry for gear, which is already allowed. But BoE gear is better bc your options for selling your drops or obtaining gear are greatly increased.

Except DLCs with overland zones still sell even with overland BoE gear drops. Also, gear isn't the only reason to buy DLC dungeons.

    No.

    Just no.

You want a Maelstrom Inferno staff, do what the rest of us did and farm it.

It would remove too much grind, and an mmo is pretty much always made of grind

Players already buy runs and sell their drops in trials so I don't see why not

    ABSOLUTELY NOT!

    1. I and many others like me have spent weeks in progression runs to get BiS gear and would not be fair to us or anyone if it could just be bought, plus where would the fun be? I know Rng is what it is, 50+runs of VSS got 3 perfect false god pieces and 150+ run vma still missing things, but that's the fun

    2. It would encourage even more gold sellers, mats bots farmer and so on

Imho that could be solved by adding some random base game / dlc waepon or armour set piece to gold vendor. So it would still take a year or two to complete a 5 pcs bonus.

The reason I say it, is gold vendor right now is kinda pointless, aside from monster helmets (both base game & DLC ones). We can now upgrade jewellery, so buying "golden" ones is kinda pointless. It only serves as a way to get some gold and sell it to people unaware that gold vendor even exists...
Also, DLC jewellery is pointless too, unless you have the dungeon DLC. If you don't then you will never get 5 pcs bonus.

Also... since the only way to get dungeon DLC gear is to spend rl cash and buy the DLC, it intensifies ZOS to make those gear set "slightly" better than everything else - to encourage ppl to buy it... And that kinda touches the "P2W" red line.

Imho, we should have other means to obtain gear. At least 2. Look at IC dungeons for example. If you dont like group dungeons - you can still get the gear by either doing PvP and collecting key fragments, or even buying key fragments directly from guild traders - and then buying random IC dungeons gear set item from treasure vaults.

So you don't like the new horse training system either.? Getting a horse, just for levelling up, is unfair too.? What about all the stuff that got changed already.?

I think a balance between stuff you can get with gold and stuff you have to get for yourself is good for the game.

It encourages people to play content they might otherwise not try.

And now with the sticker book, you really only need to get an item once and you can reproduce it on all your characters if you want.
