Being asked for 20 Dreugh Wax to upgrade to gold from purple today

I am attempting to upgrade a purple item to gold and the UI indicates I need 20 Dreugh Wax. It shows 100% at 20 pieces, and then drops 5% each piece less. I thought it only required 8 pieces.

You need to add skillpoints to the passive that requires less Wax for upgrade. Then it'll drop to 8 pieces.

If you need to, use the bank and deposit the item. Then log to your Alt that has the Temper Passives, they can upgrade the item while it is in the bank. Then, log back to the character that will wear it.

Thanks everyone. I figured it out.

I didn't have the points in the passive.

However, I now feel that the message indicating the points increase your chance of improving items with tempers in misleading. It does not really do that. What it does is it reduces the number of tempers required to successfully improve items. I guess it's how you interpret the phrase.

If I had see 8 required, but only a 25% chance of success, I would have immediately realized I was on my alt and that I had no points in the passive. I guess it also doesn't help that I never tried to improve an item on a toon other than my GMC before today.

At least one good thing came from this. I had no idea I had over 400 Dreugh Wax.
