Antiquity system = New Forum Category?

Recently started scrying & excavating skill line and while I find the new mini game fun I feel like I just don't get it or understand. I think it would be great if we had a forum for this aspect of the game. Trying to find the guides (thanks saucy jack) and other topics spread among the forums is hit or miss.
I just figured out that you can/should(?) scry and dig the same already found objects multiple times to fill the codex for that item, you then find the same item in different places? I don't understand that. Why? Just for the dialog between the antiquiarians?
