Zaan's Shoulders / Epaulets!!!

After so so so so many attempts to get Zaan's Shoulder(s) I am starting to think I may have to leave them to someone in my Will if it takes any longer.
I got the head fine. But chest after chest after chest I do NOT get the Epaulets/shoulders.
This is baffling me because its a 50/50 chance each time?
Or am I missing something.

Has anyone else ever gotten them. :-) Is it possible or am I missing something? How many tries should I try when I am already some 800% over compared to all the others I have gained.

I got them with the perfect trait first try.

And yet I'm still searching for a Burning Spellweave Inferno Staff.

RNG is evil that way. It never gives you what you want till you've given up.

I previously misspoke as I have not gotten shoulders in a while and forgot we no longer used the chest.

If you buy the mystery coffer from the DLC pledge granted then the chance to get a Zaan shoulder from the DLC chest is 1/n. n= number of DLC dungeons. That is just for getting the shoulder in that set. After that it is a 33% chance it will be epaulets as there are 3 different armor weights.

If you buy the Dragonbones coffer it is a 50% chance for getting Zaan but will still contend with the three different armor weights making it a 1/6 chance of getting Zaan Epaulets.

:s:s:s:s I need a little help on the missing number.

I'M GROWING OLD HERE... by the time I get it I'll be too weak to use it anyway. :D

They need a failsafe in place to guard against getting super unlucky. Maybe have it where when you deconstruct shoulders you get a a fragment of some kind you can accumulate to buy the shoulder piece you want. They can make it a really high number like 100 or something. But I think there does need to be something like that in place.

No. There is no dlc chest anymore. The undaunted vendors sell coffers now, and the only loot in that coffer is the shoulders from that particular dungeons group with all of them having 2 dungeons only.

So in the Dragon Bones coffer there is only Zaan or Thorvukun shoulders.

So there is a 1/2 chance that it will be a Zaan shoulder, and a 1/6 that it will be the weight you want.

That's because the loot table is

    Light Zaan
    Medium Zaan
    Heavy Zaan
    Light Thorvukun
    Medium Thorvukun
    Heavy Thorvukun

3/6 pieces, or 1/2, are Zaan
But if you want specifically say the medium shoulders, that's only 1 out of the 6 items.

    Thankyou for this.
Well, I will keep trying and when I achieve I will post how many Coffers (I meant coffers not chests.... Theyre all boxes to me. :-) ) it took to achieve.

Had forgotten they eliminated the chests since I have not had a need for a new shoulder for a while. I updated my post. I think they may have been buying the mystery coffer though which is like the old chest as far as odds go.

Hear, hear! Progress towards the gear you're after mitigates the irritation of RNG and the burnout of grinding.

This is a good idea imo. It also allows for folks who are intimidated by vet dungeons to accumulate gear that will help them perform better in overland. As long as the time/grind component is adjusted properly this should not upset the hard core vet runners while simultaneously helping the "meek" so to speak.
