Vet HM Dungeons should guarantee both a weapon and a jewelry piece

The title says it all, but first I want to say that I think ZOS did a great job removing a lot of the boring, unnecessary grind in this game. I didn't even get the worst of it, but from 2015 (when I started) until now, most of the boring, mindless, repetitive gear grinds have been removed with One Tamriel (normal dungeons dropping max level gear), CWC (Transmutation) and the recent arena weapons dropping from normal (though I don't love this last one). With the Sticker Book, things will be even better and trying different builds on live server will be even better. Second, this idea is not new nor original but I believe now is the right time to bring this up.

Despite all the improvments, though, one annoying grind remains: getting a specific weapon for a Dungeon Drop. And I believe this one will become extremely more visible once the Sticker Book is live.

We've all been there. Maybe we were chasing that BSW Inferno from the days when it was BiS for every mag spec, or the Viper Daggers from a long way back. Now it is the Medusa Inferno Staff. You can run a dungeon hundreds of times with a group you know and still don't get a single group drop. I have almost 2000CP from two accounts now and in all this time I've NEVER had an BSW Inferno drop, even when I spent almost 3 months exclusively farming for it. I've probably ran City of Ash 800+ times in my years playing this game. Not one single drop (BSW Infernos were good since I started playing so everyone always wanted that).

This change, having vet HM dropping both a weapon and a jewelry, would fix a lot of small annoyances.

First, vet HM is kinda of pointless outside of the pledge, unless you just want fun.

Second, the grind for dungeon set weapons is now completely out of balance with the other grinds in the game. Even Trials weapons are easier to come by at this point.

Third, it will make dungeons more consistent with the most recent trials.

I've been already farming weapons for Sticker Book and I'm already frustrated how some weapons just don't drop at all, even if you run dozens a times per day the same dungeon. Let's go, ZOS, lets fix this one last annoying gear grind so we can all make our builds more easily!

This is a great idea. Gives us a reason to farm it outside of motifs

I’m all for this. After helping a guild mate farm FV 35 times for Tzogvin weapons and jewels I have seen enough of that dungeon to last a lifetime!

On a related note, FV isn’t even that hard anymore 🤣

They should give you the option to choose your reward from a list of say 3 random pieces.

I've talked about this before. I hope that after people begin to massively collect sets for the collection, they will have a lot of uncollected weapons of different sets and more attention will be paid to this than now.

If I run Bloodroot Forge one more damn time I may cut off my hands.

Blooddrinker Weapons are quite the pain in the butt to get.

I remember seeing your post. As I said, this is not my idea. I saw this on the forums a few times over the years already, which is a good sign that it is something a lot of people want and would appreciate.

I always like how other MMO's dropped tokens, that you take to a vendor and trade it in for the set piece you needed. Instead of getting BSW Maces 45 times. I have been trying for two years to get a Netch's Touch lighting staff, I sure have 5 Netch's Resto Staves, and tons of daggers and axes!

The most frustrating thing is that we already have that system in ESO...

When I was farming my SPC staves, they never once dropped, but my guild was helping me and they all collected or gave me the Keys until I got both from the chests.

There is no need to complicate the system by introducing tokens. If we have a guaranteed drop of weapons, the farm will be significantly reduced.

I don’t think people mind farming, but when you got through something 60 or 80 times than it gets a bit out of control. Say if it did drop tokens make it so you have to farm say 20 tokens to get your desired piece. That puts it nearly on par with the amount of transmutes that are needed to recreate the piece after the patch.

Farming dungeons for equipment past the 20th run though is a bit much. Make style and motifs pages cost 50 as well. Keep the incentive to farm just don’t make certain items so rare that they may as well be mythic!

I didnt think it was as bad as it was until I was farming White-Gold Tower and Prison during that event.

In something like 40 runs of 2x drops in White-Gold, I never saw a single SPC lightning or Resto staff, Imperium mace, or non-staff 2hander in either of those sets (except the unique one from the triplets).

One might be able to convince Zos to increase the drop rate by providing a logical argument comparing the actual drop rate of different types of armor vs weapons and jewelry. This worked before as a player provided a well thought, constructive post with actual information concerning the drop rates and how weapons and jewelry dropped while also increasing their drop rate. However, I seriously doubt Zos will start guaranteeing both weapon and jewelry drops from dungeons.

Good idea. It'd also give HM another purpose bc if it's not pledge day and you already have the achievement, then HM is pointless.

Spot on. More players will realize how utterly ridiculous RNG can get.

Token systems are great bc all your runs are actually progressing towards the gear you're after. It's already a thing in game, so it's not unprecedented. (trophy vaults, pledge keys)

I like the idea, as there is currently no reason to do hardmode outside of pledges.

Why do you seriously doubt it?

I would never, in a million years, think ZOS would allow Arena weapons to drop from normal, but here we are.

I think this would be a very tiny change in comparison.

And you are right. I'm not the person to do the post with the calculations but if someone could, it would help. I do think though that the Sticker Book will make this very obvious and apparent.

    Please consider this, ZOS, hehe.

I'm already feeling the pain... Most dungeon sets are already down to weapons that never drop.

There is a simple and honest solution to sort this out and while I doubt ZOS will implement it, it is the perfect solution. With a few issues:
Until your stickerbook is complete for the set, reduce the RNG to only non collected pieces.
So while you might get a BSW dagger, shield, pink tutu and a clown hat before you get an inferno staff, the drop will come even if it is the last item in the set for the stickerbook.

A few issues would come from this though.
Firstly they would have to make the drops BoP as all it would take is someone to have inferno staff as last drop and sell coa1 runs to other just selling his staffs,
Secondly the RNG would have to be completely revamped and for some reason RNG is ZOS special sauce that they like to spray all over us ruining our fun.
Thirdly, after everyone gets the sets in coa1, will they ever even run the dungeon again!
Soon enough we will all already have every monster set so even keys wont be a reason to do the dungeon.

I think ZOS really should think of doing this. There is 3 sets per dungeon, so like 21 pieces per set, 60+ runs of a dungeon and we all guaranteed to have every set piece.
Maybe add the guaranteed drop come from only vet HM, or from a coffer when you hand in a pledge. That way we can't all get it solo or in 1 day.

While medusa staff and BSW staff is my bane too as they are for most of us. My real punishment is winterborn ice staff and the getting the entire malestrom sets will be impossible for most of us with this crappy tedious unfun RNG system.
