Honestly why not just avoid all this black market trading once and for all? so much shady stuff around and it does happen and will keep happening till you give us a safe way to do so.

Above all, people are getting scammed every day for being desperate with lack of IRL fund to buy crowns while others do have the funds, if ZoS are getting paid for those crowns one way or another, what does it matter who purchase them?

Beyond that, think how good it will do to the in game GOLD economy, people got too much gold to burn, if for example we will be able to sell crown crates in guild stores, I believe hundreds of millions of gold will be burned a month just from the guild stores taxes!

Looking at the trade history in one of the top black market discords, the last weekend alone people bought over 200k crowns! if we do simple math of 400:1, that's 86m gold that has been traded in a super shady way, which is in one server + no difference between buying crowns and trading them for gold to actually buying gold.

Now this is BLACK MARKET, think about how many people would trade crowns if it was legal and not so shady?

And to top it all off, gold sellers will gain a massive blow as people who already buy gold, will simply buy crowns, which again, benefits ZoS and the community.

Crown trading is in the game and is in the game to stay, you cant avoid it or stop it, same as gold selling/buying ...

Those kind of trades are happening from the dawn of MMO's and all online games, yet there is no solution to stop the problem, so in my opinion there is no reason to be stubborn and try to fight it, just legalize the process please ...

Thanks for reading ..

Agreed, should be able to mail crowns like items and gold in the mail system or trade gift crown items for gold, etc...

I saw a wise answer regarding this once:

Crown sales/trading is allowed, but will never be actively supported, or encouraged by Zos. What will happen if they did, is they will make their in game currency (gold) have a real life value from crowns, and this will/may result in legal trouble from various countries.

Not my idea, but the point still stands, and this makes a lot of sense, since they havent added it, or commented about it in all the countless threads that has been opened about it

Guild Wars II allows trading of ingame gold and gems. I don't see that they operate by any different legal restrictions.

The whole trading system needs a revamp.

I agree with you OP. Not only would it be a good thing but they could learn so much from it.

Not only their approach to the system but to the game in general.. please ZOS you need to actually take notice of what's going on in ESO.

WHY do we NOT have cross platform servers in 2025?

Not actively support it does not mean they cant make the items tradeable.

Just realize the potential of it all, lets say motif books, those super expensive motif's would finally have a value cap.

And just like writs which capped at 500g/voucher, the community eventually will figure a crown/gold number.

To say it would yield real money value, it already has, aka why there are billion gold selling sites.

Heck, that you buy crowns and trade them for gold the way it is now is no difference whatsoever, saying otherwise is being ignorant.

Either you go with it or against it, you cant just stay in the middle and let people run themselves, that's how criminal organizations are born.

Did you know that there is a whole system of middleman in those discords? they literally cut 5% of the profits by simply trading the gold, free 1m work for huge amounts of gold.

I am sure ZoS idea wasn't to open a whole black market underground scene when they decided to stay neutral.

There aren't many sellers around now and there would be even less if they changed to this. People can spend their gold on crowns already yet they sit on millions of golds. Why? Those who sell high amount of crowns have their customers already.

It's rather rare to get people sell 5k these days in PS. Less and less sellers which is good.

This is entirely false, I've bought 20k crowns in the last 3 weeks from 4 different sellers.

Either you offer too little or don't look at the right place.

Many people are too "Scared" to trade crowns.

Its in the best interest of the current sellers to have as less sellers as possible in order to keep pumping the price seneless like a cartel.

Know of multiple games that let that and run into no legal issues, don't know why Zos would.

The very expensive motifs are cheaper buying with gold than crowns. 5K crowns * 300 gold = 1.5M gold.
Granted many platforms has lower gold to crown rate so it will reduce the cost of the most expensive motifs to 500 K so here it will affect the most expensive motifs.

The crown exchange discords already has their process, the 5% transaction fee is for organizing the thing and as an insurance. Yes its very profitable just as banking an insurance is real world.

Benefit of an system thee you could buy say 1000 crowns lockerbox for say 1100 crowns and sell this in an guild store or in zone. Buyer could then resell it give it away or use it gaining 1000 crowns.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

If everyone can sell crowns legit then price will drop dramatically ... so yeah there is that.

I believe it will end up at the 200g/crown space if crowns system would've existed.
