To be or not to be a monster ( VAMPIRISM )

To be or not to be a monster , this is not always an easy question especially for those who is unable to live this fantasy through all it takes.
I've been playing ESO since launch day and for sure thats the first time which the vampiric theme is trailing a bright side of the tracks. I really loved the changes brought forward towards feeding as logically thinking we become weaker if we don't fuel our bodies so the vampirism stages could be less punitive as in the end we are still discussing about dark creatures believed to have fallen from the sky as fallen angels who feed on living beings in order to sacrilege the most HIGH. They respect nothing and go beyond anything.
Some vampiric abilities couldve been better designed such as the vampiric drain. I really loved the animations towards feeding through NPCS ( a piece of art ) it made the game experience skyrocketing in satisfaction and adrenaline. The vampiric drain though should be the way it was before when used against other players ( pvp perspective ) it should serve as a type of vigor ( self healing ) ... the animation couldve also been improved for something more realistic or similar to the way it was before ... the prey would be lifted in the air while a trail of blood would leave the victim towards the predator.
Mist blood should also face a better animation or being swapped by BLOOD POOL which is used by VORENOR WINTERBOURNE ( SPINDLECLUTCH 2 last boss ) .
Mist form should carry along with it bats like the way it was displayed in the Graymoor opening trailer.
If maybe just maybe the vampire transformation could bring back the wings then the whole vampire theme would be even more immersive. A dream of mine fulfilled by my sole creation Marcus Corvinus ... anyway ... a huge fan of eso / underworld.
Overall , im pretty happy with all the changes towards vampirism however we can improve it even further making the vampirism experience beyond any description.
So far I've created all my favourite vampire characters from UNDERWORLD franchise films and the changes made this year helped me immerse even deeper in this childhood fantasy theme that has always fascinated me.
Graymoor was without a doubt the best DLC ever introduced. Looking forward to even more realistic vampire stories , scenarios and characters.
Before I forget , please give us the Grayhome island and Palace as a purchasable home since the vampire castle version in blackreach was too bland for a proper vampire lord.
Cheers everyone, thanks eso for this epic vampire DLC . The best eso year !!!

    Er, what?

Unless I'm gravely mistaken (pun intended), that's not at all the lore for Elder Scrolls vampires.

Yeah.... That's not TES lore. In TES lore it is a blood curse that manifests as a blood born disease. It was created when Daedric blood was mixed with a mortals, and in Dunmeri culture it seems someone created it alchemically around the same time.

You are not sure to be or not to be a vampire, OP? A vampire is an undead bloodsucking creature. Almost in every universe. Exile or grave are the right places for it, not the world of the living. If you want to be a beast, than choose a werewolf - at least lycanthropes are not monsters all the time around. I don't know what associations the "vampire" word brings to you, in my language and culture we have our own word for it that sounds almost the same and is slightly abusive. Of course, abusive! We use this word to call thugs, repeat criminals, moneysuckers, all those who can work, but still live at others' expense, evil and mean people who drain energy simply being around, people who bring no good but treat others as cattle to constantly feed on. They are called vampires too. This word brings no romantic associations at all whatever image those movies, video games try to give it. There is nothing cool in calling Evil Good and vice versa. Perhaps, it makes effect when someone is young and yet silly, but to an older man who should be able to distinguish good from evil after all the books, movies, life experience your question should not be an option at all.

I always smile when I see a humane vampire like Fennorian (a vampire.. healer :D?!..) - yep, a kind bloodsucker who constantly fights his nature, a devil rebuking sins :).. Yeah-yeah.. I'd sooner believe in a meat eating vegetarian. Ah, that character is a real oxymoron, a mixed metaphor that is too weird in my perception as if the devs created, say, a tasty dirt or hot beer - an odd creature of absolutely incompatible status and it's image walking around and helping people. Perhaps it was intended to be an interesting twist of the plot, but not to me. A vampire is a vampire, or not a vampire at all. Galur Rithari is the only vampire worthy of my respect. The other.. Ah, it's too many vampires running around - I hope the Order of War Ordinators pay much more attention to it.

House Ravenwatch is plausible, but only as a rare exception. the issue is when players can be vampires anytime, you get way too many goodie 2 shoes vampires around, and more than a few of those is what makes no sense.

it IS impossible for a vampire to remain good forever, as the soul eventually is fully replaced by a daedra. at that point they would turn evil and need to be put down by their comrades who have not yet succumbed.
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

A vampires soul is not replaced by a daedra.
The thing about Tes vampires, is its not like d&d become a vampire makes you evil by default. Which to me takes out any good interesting plot hooks like a vampire resisting or overcoming the beast within. The thing is though Tes vampires become evil in a much more realistic way. Their bloodlust may drive them or they can get a handle on it but also the mentality of having to drink blood to stay sane or to avoid going feral.

A vampire has a choice they can adapt to it but also keep their morality and learn self control or they dehumanize themselves to what they once were abandoning the mortals that won't support them or help them. Not having mental support having no way to talk to people without people trying to kill them. Not having support from your own kind, which I can see that being a thing among very vampire clans wouldn't be an easy thing for them. This would drive them to evil most likely because its easier to cope with that by dehumanizing people then to follow another path, to them that is the only way they can cope.

But each vampire is unique and like the any other person they take it in different ways and can thus vary in morality just like any mortal. Because in Tes reality they are just the mortal they were before but they have a curse or a gift that makes them in a immortal state unless slain. Its how they deal with it that matters. Do they let it overcome them or do they adapt to it and become more like Janus Hassildor and Verandis Ravenwatch or do they become feral beasts or evil edge lords.

So the Tes vampires can be more then just evil because its a morally grey setting that anyone can be good or evil or in-between. Take D&d alignments a priest of the divines can be a chaotic evil *** but a vampire can even be a lawful good person. So that is how this works in Tes. That is how the Devs made it. Vampires have the ability to choose, and can they fall to evil yes. But can they adapt adjust without turning to evil yes they can.
They can be good or neutral. They don't have to be evil.
So a vampire does not need to be a monster, its what they do that defines if they become a monster or not.

None of my characters are Vampires or Werewolves. I never gave in to the idea that the Vamp passives were mandatory for good builds or how powerful a Werewolf can be. In fact the questlines for the two are the only Quests in the entire game I haven't experienced in my five years of playing.

Just keep in mind, player vampires in ESO are a very different thing. There is no desire or need to drink blood at all. It's probably the only 'vampire' I've ever heard of that doesn't need to drink at all.

Not too sure what the whole start of your post is about, but it aint ES lore.

This DLC is absolutely not the best one, sorry to say. I will not give ZOS the honor of such. If they made the vampire rework similar to, idk, the vampires we fight in the DLC then yes I would agree with you that it is the best. But as long as they can't get the simple design logic of allowing your players to be immersed in the world through sharing NPC skills when it comes to VAMPIRES and WEREWOLVES (you know, those two things that are supposed to make us monsters like the NPCs. That is their entire design purpose.) then I will never say this expansion is even good. It just exists.

With that said, I do agree completely on all of your skill suggests. Especially adding wings back to vampire and giving vampires more of a bat theme.

Praising them for this rework though is heavily, heavily misplaced. [snip]

For me it doesn't matter whether Molag bal had been the progenitor of vampirism as well as Adam as being the progenitor of sin. So I was just using a jargon to emphasize my passion towards such creatures ( werewolves and vampires) and how I live through those in game characters. So please ignore the lack of lore knowledge towards the matter. I'd just like to highlight the elements which could be improved in order to create an even more immersive and motivating game experience.

Hope we can come across further improvements towards the vampire active and passive abilities as well as some of their animations.
Thanks for all the comments, I really appreciated them.
