Clipping and Floating is the biggest detriment to Outfits

If those three things didn't exist, or at the very least didn't clip or push your weapons off the body, then I'd wear the Pellitine Style. Instead I wear the Bloodforge style because that style's chest piece has nothing on the hips nor any flaps. There are numerous outfit/crafted styles in-game, but because of these issues my actual choice in appearance is very limited. Frankly if it's in reality too difficult to downright impossible to make it so clothing pieces never clip into others, then just don't create them to begin with?

Having Like 100 different styles with most of them coming in light, medium and heavy its Impossible to make them so they dont clip in each other If you combine different styles.

Maybe it is but the effort will be huuuuuuge.

I found that some styles will clip with some characters, but not with other, depending on body proportions. Same with floating. I generally had more clipping/floating issues with female proportions.

Oh, and personalities, or weapon, etc...

get rid of the stupid hip armor pieces would be a big plus. they look stupid and ruin the look of all outfits. it's why i will only wear light armor that don't have them

I saw a guard in front of the Senechal palace. His tail stuck through his shield while the shield itself was piercing his greaves.

or make the hip armour part of the legs rather than the chest armour.

Its a constant frustration when outfitting. Clipping can ruin otherwise fantastic combinations.

But, I am unsure what the answer is, because there is such a huge, wide variety of styles and armor types, it seems some kind of clipping is going to happen. The styles/motifs are also being created all the time, over years. So it cant be easy to try and make everything work with everything. Is there a way?

The other outfit ruining aspect of the system is colours not looking the same on different motifs/styles. This is intensely frustrating. The item may look great and work with your creation... but the colours just wont match. Sometimes you can get around this by trial and error with different colours, but its a real pain and time consuming. Other games allow you to actually pick the base material, which affects how a colour appears on that material, in this way the player has control over how colours appear.

Completely agree. Also, adding to your list is the inability to hide:
    1. Shoulders
    2. Hip & Crotch Flaps
    3. Thigh & Knee Guards

Fixing what you said OP and adding more to the "Hide your..." list would take the ESO outfit style system to a whole other awesomeness level imho.

While I would love to see less crotch/hip flaps and have shoulders be able to be hidden... I look at this all with a different attitude. This isn't real life; I don't expect perfection in anything! If you wish things to be 'perfect', the real world outside comes the closest to perfect, and gaming costumes cannot fit all of us (of varying shapes and sizes) in the manner we would like.

Back flaps are hidden on Khajiit and Argonians as it would clip with tails so something like this is possible.
Shoulders is just an slot like head so should be easy enough to hide. An invisible outfit style is another option.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

The two biggest offenders for clipping are tassets and crotch/butt flaps if ZOS allowed them to be hidden like people have been requesting for quite some time that would eliminate most instances of clipping when mixing and matching different motif styles.

We already have hidden butt flaps on Khajitt and Argonian characters so there's ground for ZOS to build off of plus there are references to an unimplemented option to hide tassets and crotch/butt flaps within the game.

We're not expecting perfection, we'd like glaring problems to be solved.

I would agree with this. IMHO there are a Lot of chest pieces that could really look good, but the anime-sized hip armor just makes the piece look stupid.

    IMHO

They could just not add hip and crotch flaps to everything and that would solve a lot of the issue. Most other games don’t have this issue.
