I love the Imperial City Event! Perceptions of a filthy casual.

I may be a filthy casual who focuses on housing but I adore the IC event every year. It's so much fun trying to liberate my homeland from invading forces as an Imperial. Everything is crawling with enemies whether they be npc or player. The being ganked the satisfying ganking... it's all glorious and atmospheric.

As a casual it forces me to up my game and consider pvp builds and enjoy collecting tons of tel var an the thrill of death being meaningful and losing half of it.

I wish the IC was this full year round and if I can have one tiny recommendation it would be to create a linkage between IC pvp and Cyrodiil pvp... Promote players enjoying both modes year round by having whichever faction is emperor in Cyrodiil affects the Tel Var gained bonus in IC and likewise whoever controls the most districts in IC gives a small bonus to Cyrodiil pvp... That way there's actual significant meaning to dominating both modes of pvp and a better cohesion.

The other thing is it perhaps have a better tutorial on how to get to IC in the first place and how to move around it. It's ultra confusing to the players I've had to explain it to. Especially since one can no longer access the sewers from Cyrodiil.

Here's to looking forward to another glorious IC event next year! Hopefully the streets of the city aren't as empty in the meanwhile and more people enjoyed the challenges of a mixed PVP / PVE experience.

It's always been my favourite event for sure. I will say I enjoyed it less this year, the zergs seemed rife. For some reason folks think it's profitable to roll around in a big group and it just really isn't.

In terms of Cyrodiil link, very unlikely. As that's how IC was introduced, access to Imp City was gated behind PvP map control but they soon removed that on launch.

Then only a tenuous link was left (i.e. same population and you could get Emperor and take your Pew Pew into IC)

Tutorial, yep you make a good point. Within on guild the amount of times I've had to explain the ladders, about getting the dailies from all before you drop down, and only to enter the sewers from your home districts etc

IC has been great, all the pvpers are there and Cyrodil is empty. Finally got Cyrodil fishing and overland achievements complete with not a ganker in sight.

ok, new player here and this is my 3rd event (after Cyro Mayhem and Summerset).
Can't say I'm particularly good at PvP (humble Sergeant, alliance rank 7) and it was my first time trying IC. Well, it wasn't bad, I did literally zero quests because as usual, I wasn't interested in any of them. Boss hunt, random fights, typical stuff, very funny. Any overpopulated zone becomes funny, am I right? Except ofc when a group of high-ranks shows up and eats all the questers, but you know, that's life :|
What I didn't like about this zone, in general, is the number of loading screens, it's 2020 why do we have to click on doors to move from district to district? And (from my humble casual perspective) moving between districts was the whole point.
And the fact that zone chat in the Upper district is not shared with zone chat in your base (sewers?), that was very inconvenient.
Plus I didn't like the lack of any tutorial. Like till this day I still wonder if there's a way to get to the alliance base fast, except loading to Cyro from IC and then loading back to IC (base).

PS. Yesterday AD Overlord saved me from a very annoying DC nightblade, he showed up out of nowhere on his indrik, jumped over me, and killed the NB, thank you Sir, your help was very appreciated! You saved my Pact sorc and my telvars! :*

Other way to get back fast: you'll want to buy the Sigil of Imperial Retreat from an NPC in the sewer base and it will port you back to your base.

What I love about the IC event is that we can do the six daily quests on two chars (and do one of them on a third char, or brave the event for one you’ve already turned in) and turn one in each day 🙂

I do wish they would put all six daily quest givers in the base BEFORE you have the quests too so you could get all six quests in one place without having to endure eleven loading screens before the final jump down into a district.

I think it was the IC event at the beginning of the year, that was my fav. I had never REALLY gotten into the zone, other than completing the zone questline, and a daily from time to time - but it was so great! It was the first time I had ever gone to the middle to fight Molag in 3 years playing! People were grouping constantly from our faction via zone chat - and there were huge fights in the centre. Exhilarating; nerve-wracking; and super intense action goodness!

Although - I found the IC portion of the last MyM to be a lot less group-focused - and it was often difficult to even put a small raid crew together to farm the zone boss achievement - let alone really farm Molag, etc. I learned to solo my Alliance’s sewer bosses, just ‘cause of a lack of groups running.

This IC event also seemed a lot more “solo-focused” - as even the big groups sweeping zones were still mostly peeps running in there own, and zone chat was a lot less chatty. Still fun - but not as mind-blowing as that other IC event for me.

    S.

Edit: did have fun trying out a few new gear sets, and crafting interesting poisons for the first time
