Question about Precise Strikes and crit.healing

Seaviy
Seaviy
Precise Strikes tooltip says it also works for Critical Healing with Stamina abilities. We have 'Echoing Vigor', 'Ring of Preservation'; 'Soothing Spores' and warden ultimate 'Secluded Grove' (which need to be scaled from the highest resource, right?) for example, but prompt on eso-skillbook says for none of the stamina heals really benefit from Precise Strikes. Is that so, did someone test it?

CP has not been shown to be able to dynamically scale in the game, it can really only affect 1 source. The only example that you may get confused by would be a situation like Soul Trap where there is an option between Physical Damage or Magicka Damage based on highest resource, since there is 2 damage types, each damage type can can be affected by their own CP related stars. Any similar magicka ability like Streak, Shade, Ritrual of Retribution, etc will copy your highest resources for scaling, but CP will only treat them based on their damage type and/or cost type.

This is unfortunately why stamina players are still upset that they don't have their own Physical/Poison/Disease based ultimates as well, despite them copying highest damage stats, since stamina players miss out on 10%+ damage and/or 20% crit healing for example. A stam DK using Standard and FoO doesn't get any benefit from Mighty since those skills deal fire damage, yet are required for pve damage dealing. This is exactly why many players have argued for ZOS to update some skills to behave like Soul Trap, providing 2 types of damage, allowing CP to benefit both parties.

It seems most healing in the game defaults to magicka, unless the resource cost is specifically stamina. Resource agnostic skills (health cost, ult cost, no cost) should default to Elfborn as a result.

Vigor, Ring and Soothing Spores all cost stamina, so they should scale based on Precise Strikes, not Elfborn. Secluded Grove is an ultimate and does not base it's healing off of damage done so I'd expect it to follow Elfborn. An ultimate like DW's Rend may cost ult, but deals physical damage, the healing received is based on the damage done so the healing scales on Precise Strikes instead of Elfborn.

Skills like Crit Surge that have primarly been used by stamina sorcs for the past 6 years have only scaled from Elfborn, despite now being able to properly inherit weapon critical chance instead of spell critical chance. It's a pretty large flaw with the CP system I hope they correct with the redesign in the future.

In Update 23 they touched on this topic a little, maybe this can help provide some insight. Note how they don't touch on Elfborn vs Precise Strikes on resource agnostic skills, only character stats, etc:
    • Resource agnostic sources of Healing will now use your highest Critical Strike chance, rather than defaulting to your Spell Critical only. Resource agnostic refers to abilities that utilize only your Max Health to scale, or are based off flat values. Below is a list of all affected abilities:
    • Bitter Harvest and its morphs
    • Death Scythe and its morphs
    • Dragon Blood and Green Dragon Blood
    • Battle Roar
    • Killer’s Blade
    • Mark Target and its morphs
    • Siphoning Strikes and its morphs
    • Repentance
    • Blood Magic
    • Dark Exchange and its morphs
    • Summon Unstable Clannfear’s special activate
    • Bond with Nature
    • Arctic Wind and its morphs
    • Bone Goliath and its morphs
    • Absorb Missile (previously known as Absorb Magic)
    • Consuming Trap
    • Undaunted Command
    • Unflinching Rage
    • Resourceful
    • Drain Essence and its morphs
    • Feed (Vampire synergy)
    • Hircine’s Bounty and its morphs
    • The abilities listed below now properly use Precise Strikes to scale rather than Elfborn, since they are Stamina abilities.
    • Leeching Strikes
    • Killer’s Blade
    • Dark Exchange and Dark Conversion
    • Ruinous Scythe
    • Absorb Missile
    • Draining Shot

I wish all healing abilities scaled with highest highest offensive stats like cleansing ritual. Even the resto line with the skill cost also based on highest offensive stats to use.
