How many craftable sets/stations is too many? (genuine post, real concerns)

I am a grand master crafter and I enjoy crafting very much. I love the crafting system it's fantastic imo.

My concern is the sheer amount of craftable sets/stations and the fact new ones keep being added.
I imagine it may be a concern for large crafting guilds too who wish to provide all crafting stations for the crafting members

I myself collect crafting set stations and I find it hard to keep up. I do not want to be in a guild and so I like having my own stations since I like to complete my master writs and craft in general. I already travel around Tamriel enough doing surveys and treasure maps I don't need to add travel to crafting stations as well…..just too time consuming for me.

I just think this needs to be looked at and discussed. I hope to keep playing eso for a few more years but this issue is a concern for me.

Why not revamp or improve sets that are already implemented rather than add more. How about deleted old sets then and when adding new ones we could re-attune our craftable stations to the new set. I don't know what the answer is i'd just like a break or pause next expansion from zos adding new craftable set stations.

what are your thoughts?

I see no issue with more crafted sets being added regularly. While some sets introduced over the years have not interested me, others have. Additionally, we tend to look at what sets are "good" with a narrow point of view and the reality is ESO has a very diverse group of players with very diverse interests.

More importantly, Zos adding more sets, craftable or not, does not hurt anyone. It is also odd that this thread is only concerned about craftable sets and disregards drop sets that have often had a much greater impact on the game.
    Really, idk

    Nope. Nope. Nope.

Keep adding more and will eventually have craft house A-D craft house E- G etc etc do not see or have any problem with this.

Nairinhe's idea is also awesome, but I'm sure ZoS would find a way to screw that up considering we still have to click through every single style and they are not even alphabetised ~ can you just imagine the interface disaster hahahahah xD

Its for sure an ongoing, increasing problem.

Years ago, fine, now, with mores sets every dlc… not sustainable, or fair frankly to the crafting community.

Something like one craft station for each dlc &/or zone would be far more efficient, it would cut the number of stations required by around 2/3rds, which is significant. These multi stations would simply allow you to select which set you wish to craft when entering the "creation" tab.

Zos needs to do something. Quite apart from the practicality and space, it just looks totally ridiculous to have a sea of stations taking up your house.

It's already too many crafting sets, with very few of them actually being useful and cool :|

I don't know why they keep adding more and more sets every update - many of crafted sets are boring and add nothing worthy to the gameplay. It feels like they exist just to make people buy more crafting stations for their guild halls :/

Like the OP, I've collected all the sets for my own house. I love housing and wanted to use it's full potential. I also love my house and what I've managed to do with it. Because it's something I've done for myslef I don't just want an empty house stuffed with sets, I want something I can be proud of which at the moment I do.

Already I'm having to make sacrifices to keep up to date; I've been full for over a year so each new zone I need to remove things to fit in the new sets. On top of that I can only physically fit in another 2 or 3 zones before I have to abandon any aesthetics and just cram them in.

There definitely needs to be a better solution but for the life of me I can't think of anything that would work well enough. Hopefully something can be done in the next year or so tho, before I have to either ruin my house or give up on new sets

    what are your thoughts?

My thoughts are they should create *crafting station* it does all of the crafts leather wood metal jewlery cloth etc and add attuned ones that again do all the above from a single station. They for the sake of money and not screwing over the playerbase convert all existing household stations into attuned ones that do it all

I think they should only release 2 craftable sets per zone dlc/chapter

All the alliance sets are identical and in triplicate. They could cull 2/3 of crafting stations from the base game zones now that One Tamriel lets others into different alliance zones. If you look at the name of the set and the lore, it is clear that one or two of those sets don't belong in that region. Hundings belongs in DC, not EP/AD.

From there, they could move 1 from other zones into the base game zones (it would be a freebie, so doesn't have to be a desirable set). End result is most zones will have only 2 crafting stations like Craglorn.

    --

Regarding crafting stations themselves, i've requested multiple times that this endless sea of crafting stations in guild halls is getting ridiculous and is just consuming the furniture limit in households.

    My ideal situation
    1. Writ vendor ONLY sells 1 basic crafting station of each type.
    2. These standard basic crafting stations now go into your collectible tab, can be placed in any house.
    3. Writ vendor sells Animus Stones for 50 writs.
    4. Animus Stones have a dual function now, either used to create training dummies, or take 5 (250 writs worth) to any crafting station in the overworld and it will imprint the station upgrading your standard basic crafting station back home.
    5. Your collectible basic standard crafting station now has a drop down menu that allows you to craft the newly imprinted set and other that you add.

Convert all existing Attuneable stations to either 5 Animus Stones (if not attuned, or a mistakenly duplicate attuned) and for the attuned ones simply unlock that crafting station so your standard basic station upgrades and is now able to craft that set via drop down window.

End result, you have 1 Blacksmith station that you have upgraded via Animus Stones (250 writs for 5, same price) to have a set added to it, and you can keep adding sets.

Furthermore, you could have it so that guild members can share their unlocks in the guild hall, Player 1 has imprinted 10 crafting set, Player 2 has 5 different ones. Both players can craft 15 sets, but only in the guild hall. Plus whatever the house owner has imprinted. Take a lot of stress off guild masters to collect all these sets, most will still do it eventually, but in the interim only takes 1 guildie to collect it for themselves to share with the guild. If not that, at the very least, guild masters won't have to go through the hassle of reorganising their sea of crafting stations alphabetically when a new crafting set comes out.

There's only 40 - 50 armor sets that are useful, and that total includes niche sets for certain builds and situations. The rest are pretty much garbage.

I am 4 more craftable sets.

However, the sheer number of Crafting stations need to be addressed.

Maybe we finally need a Guild Hall.

    1. Main Area, normal house rules apply
    2. Seperate Load Cell Crafting Room no duels, no animated housing items, max item limit of say 800.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

As long as we always have less than the furniture limit on our private homes I'm ok with more useless sets.

I only bother attuning stations for the ones I hate having to get to (like Clever Alchemist....) and even of those I only really attune the ones I get a LOT in master writs. There's a half dozen I seem to wind up with pretty frequently:

    Clever Alchemist
    Morkuldin
    Pelinal's Aptitude
    Trial by Fire
    Way of the Arena
    Fort Brass

and I added the Earth Forge/Eyevea ones (before I knew about the addon to make the wayshrines appear on the map).

Can you re-attune stations to some other set?

The current system is absolutely a problem for my full service guild as our guild hall had to be abandoned to a larger, less desirable one and that one has become more and more of an ugly warehouse sea of crafting stations instead of an enjoyable fun guild hall. The current system has vastly exceeded its expandability with the addition of jewelry crafting and never-ending additions of new craftible sets.

I have suggested the fix several times over the last couple years and that remains the same. Transition to a new system where you buy only one master attunable table for each of the four crafting skills impacted by sets. Then, instead of buying additional crafting tables for each set, what you buy is simply additional entries to the crafting menus for for your master attunable tables. When you go to craft a set, you go to the appropriate skill's master table and select the set you want the same way you select a trait. Again, the 'deliverable' you buy when new sets come out is simply an addition to the menus of your one set of attunable tables.

Yes, it requires a transition from the old to a new system but it takes very little ingenuity to smoothly transition so that guild halls with loads of existing crafting tables are not penalized. Imagine, a full service guild hall with only one of each type of crafting station. Glorious!

Set x 4 stations is a pain and takes up way to much room and way too many furnishing slots in a guild hall.

I like the 1 station per set with all crafts included (BS, Cloth, JC, WW) idea. At least with this you can have a dedicated crafting room and be able to use the rest of the house for guild activities and decorating.

You take a beautiful home and fill it with a sea of crafting stations - what a waste!

I have posted a few times and talked with many that own all the tables. How about Master Tables? One tables per profession that would offer all the sets and greatly reduce the amount of slots/space needed. Make them something absurd like 10K vouchers per profession. It would be nice to have a guild hall that looks like a gathering place and not a sweatshop

I think like 25-35 sets would have been enough for this game.
You can adjust them further with glyphs and traits, although those need a bit of balancing so more are viable.

So many sets only causes 80% of them to be redundant, what's the added value of adding more and more?

I like that ZOS is always adding new sets that are able to be crafted.

For my guildhall it has been very easy to keep up with the new stations. I keep active people only that enjoy our guild. Friends and guildies, that understand how important it is having all crafting stations available for everyone.

With space, we have not run into an issue. In fact our guild hall has only become more opulent.

If more space was ever needed we already have purchased another of the same home. I did it on my alt account to avoid any future issues.

It is a simple solution and not costly for a guild of our size.

So I am not worried or concerned in the least by this.

That's fantastic for your guild but won't help us individuals much. I can use a second house but then friends and guildies won't have access. Lots of people like to have a one-stop-shop for everything in a pretty setting!

Not a problem...the more craftable sets the better. If I want to craft a particular set...I just travel there. Each major expansion ads just 3 craftable sets at most.....that is not too much to keep up with if you want to treat them like Pokemon

I don't mind more sets. I think ZOS needs to create sets that are interesting and/or useful and not be so strictly locked into a pattern of 3 sets per zone DLC, 3 sets per dungeon, 4 sets per trial, etc. If the sets aren't necessary or fill a role, don't add them simply because you feel you're forced to create a certain number of sets.

Perhaps they could also explore moving drop sets into crafted sets at some point if it would not unbalance anything with that set.

There's no rule in the game that says you're required to have all the crafting stations at your house, @wishlist14.

Leaving it to the guilds is the best option since they can pool resources.

I think if you try joining a guild you might find being social fun and fulfilling ... especially since an MMO-style game caters to that aspect.

This is really a thread about housing storage limits (they are too small) and crafting station design/functionality (could be better).

If it were up to me, I would triple housing limits immediately (yes I am sure it would cause performance issues, but figure it out), and I would figure out a way to make a station you could add multiple sets to. Wouldnt need to be automatic, could actually be fun if done right.

I dont have all crafting stations. I could certainly afford it if I wanted, but its a massive gold and voucher sink to do it. I also like my house without a sea of stations (I am already over limit with vet dungeon trophies). If you gave me a cool way to upgrade stations to do multiple sets, I would probably be in to it.

Also, the real reason to have a location with all the stations is for writs, not the occasional time you actually make a set.

they need new sets every update to keep interest. If the game lasts for many more years the issue may be not enough furnishing slots in homes for them all. But why not be a part of a guild.?
