If Quakecon 2020 has shown us anything

It has shown us that ESO has a huge following, it has also shown us that Zenimax has no clue on how to handle that, the Twitch moderators are actually deleting chat text that mentions ESO
@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_RichLambert seriously what gives?

If ZoS feels that ESO is taking up time from the other games, why not just have your own con, or at least a con dedicated to the Elder Scrolls franchise? The interest is there considering that chat on twitch is mostly ESO/TES fans.

You're missing a opportunity here

Unless a stream chat is actually going slow enough to read people, I just write it off completely. There's no point in using it if the posts are being pushed up immediately by others. Besides everyone knows the majority of people who use those chat boxes just spam crap intended to garner attention or lulz.

Twitch chat is mostly flaming dumpster spam and icon flooding anyway, in ANY content you watch there. It is difficult to sort through the legit conversations even if any human being could actually parse that much text per second.

The moderation is most likely being handled by algorithms, and while they may need tweaking, I don't think the larger problem of the sort of people that Twitch draws and the sort of stuff they mostly spam is really solvable from ZOS' end.

I think the only chat this weekend that I've been able to kind of follow was the live art creation & chat that just happened which was amazing and so cool to watch.

The rest has verged on very demanding and sometimes toxic chat from people spamming various #eso #crownstoregiveaway for things that weren't even happening. Some of it didn't show the eso community in a very positive light at all

Quakecon might as well have been named "where's my pony con?!" I love eso and I too wanted my pony but the incessant pony questions have been maddening. People were throwing legit fits in twitch chat and making it impossible to ask sincere ones.

It wasn't just the Quakecon stream getting hammered with that request.
ANYONE who was streaming ESO content over the weekend was getting invaded by rude pony people demanding to know when their pony was going to drop.

Wow. I had no idea it was going that far. We've had twitch drops before so I don't understand why this one produced such bad behavior. Maybe because it's also a free play week?

I've always ignored Twitch chat anyways, so wasn't aware of ponygate.

By the way, whom at ZOS should I tag about where my pony is ... ?

    (totally kidding)

ESO has always had a following, but in past QuakeCons, I always felt that ZOS and ESO were the *** step-child that no one talked about in polite company.

Chanting ESO was cute, for a little while, but it became disruptive. Same with the pony. When it becomes disruptive, it is time to stop. The stream chat is not the place where pony problems will get fixed, anyway. That should be obvious to anyone in there. Kudos for the people who tried to explain how it worked, though. Not that it helped much.

If people could learn to read, they would've known how to get there pony and if they clicked the "schedule" button right below the stream, they would've seen when and where ESO streams were happening.

This isn't entirely accurate. Some people got their pony just from watching the 20 minute HELLO vid that intro'd the event. And then people like me -who did read everything and tuned in at appropriate times but didn't get the pony- would be understandably consternated about not receiving theirs. If you do the exact same thing as your friend who gets it and u dont, u are going to be worried something has gone wrong.

I know for a fact that this happened because I tuned in on two accounts, 1 got it from the HELLO stream, the other did not! So it would not be unreasonable to assume something didn't go right, and to want it corrected during this limited-time event.

I wasn't one of the spammers mind, I'm an old dude and remained calm it'd turn up at some point -and it did! Got my emil early Sunday (UK) time... and then later on I got a 2nd pony (and 2nd crate) email!! Proof the system wasn't perfect.

I dunno Iv'e been going to Quakecon a very long time and yeah the Doomquakebros and DoomquakeDevs hates us (which is Ironic because I use to compete) but since ESO launched I have seen more and more ESO only attendants every year. I mean they brag about Quakecon growing ....that is one of the factors.

ESO is a solid part of the TES franchise, I just think it could be managed better.
