An idea to stop pvp balances from affecting negatively on pve players and vice versa

Greetings and salutations fellow adventurers, i hope you are call keeping well in this time of strife.

Recently i have been trying out final fantasy online (its not very good, its over hyped and pretentious and full of itself) but the pvp system is...interesting. It has a completely rework of all the skills so they work for pvp. Now ZOS sometimes nerfs things or buffs things which help pve players but annoy the pvpers and vice versa. If zos made a system, where they could activate "pvp" mode skills in pvp, so they worked away from the ones we use in the rest of the game, different versions of them for pvp.

then maybe it could be awhole lot better for all of us, yes? No more pvp nerfs effecting us pve players, and no pve buffs annoying the pvp toons.

I hope i explained this well, because frankly i suck at explaining things.

Take care, keep safe.

Give us clannfear mounts!

urm what about IC where you pve AND PvP
Or damage vs guards/ delves in Cyro.
Its just not possible anymore to separate pvp and pve without cutting pvp back to BGs only (which i wouldnt even mind if we at least get grouping back and bigger/more open arenas for smallscaling)

I think they would be better off looking at the current pvp builds and then changing dungeon content to promote those kinds of builds rather than the lopsided dps centric builds used now.

pvp changes should be connected to Battle Spirit so they don't affect pve.

    Fair point, @Rungar.

PvP has had a lot more diversity in builds ... even since the game debuted in 2014.

It's a simple matter of programming and ZOS won't do it. It would mean admitting their refusal to separate these two radically different game modes has been a colossal failure and they flat out won't do it.
    PC NA, PC EU

"Instead of taking the best of the dolmens (predictable rotation), the best of the geysers (scalability based on number of players), and the best of the dragons (map location and health indicators) and adding them together to make a fun and dynamic world event scenario, they gave us....... harrowstorms." https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/6850523/#Comment_6850523

Sure it is. Just flag NPC/monsters in PVP zones as players so "does X vs. players" ability mode functions work on them just as they would on enemy players. If you can kill a player with the ability, you can kill a monster.

Also, making abilities actually behave differently in PVP vs. just tweaking damage coefficients is a MUCH more interesting way to balance the two game modes. It allows for much more creativity and thought into what sort of behavior (debuffs, CC, etc.) are useful in each mode, and expands the game beyond the current 2-morph system which is painfully in need of an overhaul.

It's a simple matter of programming and ZOS won't do it. It would mean admitting their refusal to separate these two radically different game modes has been a colossal failure and they flat out won't do it.

I don't think that's it. Who care's if something is seen as an admission of success or failure? It takes a big man/woman/sentient sweetroll to admit they are not perfect and can make mistakes, and to accept this, and learn from them, and show they have learned by their ACTIONS.

The fact they would be doing it then would vastly overshadow any shame and make it look like they had learned from past experience which would have the effect of making them look wise in the eyes of players not foolish.

It is the NOT doing things that need doing that brings shame.
