Is there a cooldown on master level Antiquities leads?

So, I know theoretically there is no cooldown on leads, just RNG. However, I'm noticing that a lot of master level leads seem impossible to get more than once every few weeks.

Example: The Ayleid Sorcer King's Blade: the general consensus is that the lead drops after 5 Cyrodiil dailies. The first time, the lead DID drop in the 5th dailiy reward container. I went back the next day, and the next, and on 10 days now, 5-15 dailies per day, no second lead. I'm going to stop for a few weeks and see if one drops after a month has passed.

Other master level furnishings the lead dropped immediately (1-2 loot whatever), but the second took WEEKS to grind out. I wonder if I just should have stopped and waited a month.

I've gotten multiple leads in a row on many different items. It's totally possible that specific leads have cooldowns either account wide or character wide, but I haven't seen any hard proof of that, just various items disproving it from time to time.

For example, I did receive The Ayleid Sorcerer King's Blade on my first set of 10 dailies. Then 2 sets of 10 without one, then I received 2 of them in the 4th set. I got the second one, dug it up, then the next reward container I opened had one, probably within about 10 minutes of each other on the same toon. This was before the latest patch for reference. Void Crystal Anomoly in Coldharbor not only doesn't seem to have any cooldown of notice but also has an insanely high drop rate compared to other leads.

I think it's incredibly hard to nail down specific patterns regarding cooldowns or drop rates when many leads have very low drop rates to begin with, which will make data collection difficult to do accurately in large enough numbers to be significant.

Was this before the first Greymoor patch? I'm not saying I don't believe you, but most of the people who say "I got 3 whatever in one day" did it during the first week of Greymoor.

Hm, ok. I guess I had extremely good RNG for like a month after Greymoor dropped then insanely bad. I did get 5 Void Crystal Anomalies very easily, and am up to 22 Seats of the SNow Prince (OT - going to see how many I can get just playing normally in W. Skyrim)

It is really frutrating to get the first Stained glass window in 2 dragons, and pretty sure I"m over 50 now and no second lead. Same for the Moonlit mirror - got the first lead in 2 safeboxes, second ins like 25, and still not 3rd lead.

Yep... I've gotten several fairly quickly (the pool thing from S. Elsweyr and the stained glass from N. Elsweyr) and have spent hours farming since and haven't had it drop again.

I also received my first Stained Glass window fairly quickly, probably within my first 10 dragons. It took about 35 - 50 for the second one and no sign of a third yet. That one seems to be a rough grind for most people unless RNG shines on you.

The Void Crystal is the only gold lead I've found multiples of, so far.
(Which was very useful for leveling the antiquities skill lines. I have 25 of the item now.)

I have, so far, farmed in vain for the Rune-Carved Mammoth Skull and the Falinesti Branch. Can't get those leads (not even the first one for either) to drop.


I've been concentrating on other things, so I haven't yet farmed for most of the high-level leads we have available at this point.
RNG for these leads does seem really finicky.

Well, it's good to know I"m not the only one that suffers. For the mammoth skull - took about 25ish>? for my first lead, 40 for the second and I stopped counting for the thrid. Just anytime I was in Malabal Tor or Greenshade for surveys I would kill a bunch of Timber mammoths, same in the northern parts of Cyrodiil. Not enough mammoths in Eastmarch really, and only in 2 small areas in The Rift.

I understand. Let's see, I bought Greymoor as soon as it became available on PS4 (later than PC). The first week, I was busy questing. I didn't touch antiquities until the second or third, and it took me a while to level it up. I was hunting mythic items first, then I went after furnishings. I think my Stained Glass hunting was a week or two ago. I hope that helps.

I would say no. I picked up 3 gold leads yesterday in less than an hour doing theives guild dailies.

I don't think there's a cooldown, per se, but the droprate *has* been reduced to almost nothing.

Stained Glass Lead: First one dropped fairly fast. Now I'm up to > 100 dragons on the attempt to get a second one and nothing

Same thing with the Prismatic Sunfeather: first on took about 10 gryphons. I'm now also > 100 gryphons and no second lead

To be honest... I'm starting to lose interest. I don't want to spend my evenings doing nothing but kill the same mobs over and over and over again, while half the game is still waiting to be played and discovered (ok, not half, but I still have quite a few areas that I haven't finished yet... ).

Leads in general have become harder to get. I've noticed the change. Drop rates on leads has really ruined the fun of the game for me. I enjoy the antiquity mini-game but what ruins it is having to grind, grind and grind some more for a lead. When I have to fish for 4 hours for a single lead or grind the same dungeon 40+ times it sucks. It would be nice if they increased the rng on these things.

I've noticed that too. Moon pool dropped on like my first urn run. And the second one too weeks of farming. I will only farm it one day a month now to see if its a cooldown
