Crown Store Price Increases?

I don't remember seeing a lot of things for 6,000 Crowns (5,500 being a "Deal" for ESO+), especially for old motifs. Have prices started to go up in the Crown Store?

On that note, maybe an improvement to the store could be to let us buy individual pieces as an option from things like style pages, weapon packs, etc. As an example, the weapon packs...they charge 2,500 Crowns. Why not offer two options:

1. Buy the whole pack, 5 pieces => 2,500 Crowns (500 per piece)
2. Buy individual pieces => 700 Crowns, per piece

This way the player can get what they are after, and the company still makes their money. It would be able to spread Crowns out a bit more, and sometimes less is more in the longrun yeah? Sure, no one has to buy anything but seeing as the Crown Store/ESO+ is the main revenue stream for ESO I would think it would be wiser to have a market for all spending tiers and increase sales instead of what looks like jacking prices even higher. Maybe I'm wrong and they've always been that high and I've just noticed, but a legitimate question and concern that could certainly use some adjustments regardless.

I was just about to post this after logging in! None of these should be more than $15, I'm sorry. How do they justify this?

I'd buy every single motif if they were 500 crowns instead of 5000+, no questions about it.

Meridian and Welkynar have always been 6k crowns.

Too expensive? Yeah probably.. but they are pretty hard to get otherwise.

Can we get an explanation as to why an outfit costs have gone up

Looking back at earlier threads & other websites, it looks like Meridian & Welkynar were always 6k. There's a thread from August '19 wondering why Meridian was 6k while Coldsnap was only 4k (when the general trend had been for dungeon-dropped motifs to be 5k, with delve/etc ones 4k and trial ones 6k)

In general, though, crown-store motifs that can be farmed by in-game means are more expensive than crown-store-only ones (Stahlrim Frostcaster, Grim Harlequin, etc). Because part of what you're paying for is the convenience of skipping the farming - things that are just "I want this faster than I can get it in-game" (whether it's Skyshards, or the Banker/Merchant, or in-home Mundus stones, or motifs) all cost Too Much. By design. Because you're paying to skip playing the game.

It is ridiculous for sure, but it's also optional. Also, any motif that has been available for a year, even the expensive crown store motifs, can be purchased in game for a fair price with in game gold. After a year there are plenty of almost any motif or style page available at a reasonable price for in game gold rather than real life money.

Ugly. They could drop them to 5 gems and I still wouldn't buy them.

There shouldn't be inflation in the crown store since it's not real life.

pretty simple demand and supply - they probably look at how often these things are sold and bought and what the supply in the general economy is and then decide on the price...

at least the meridia motif remains quite expensive in game...but honestly most of the time its cheaper to exchange crowns for gold and buy it in game with gold...at least thats what i am usually calculating

Fifteen dollars huh. If you ask me, that's still way too much.

But then, I'm old enough to remember when everybody went completely apeshit over being charged $2.50 for horse armor.

If you do Malatar HM with friend that 4 motif/run.
You also got lot of item in vCR for the motif (but random can be boring).
In +3 that a 10-15min run, not a bad thing.

And most important, they're ugly anyway :x

I interpreted the prices as being related to how hard they are to get in-game. 6k for trial motifs, 5k for group dungeon motifs, 4k for delve motifs. Something like that. I’ve no idea if that’s right, it just seemed logical to me.

I believe they were that expensive last time they were in the store. I do think its hilarious they thought 500 Crowns off was a deal in that situation.

You're still looking at ~$40 - $60 worth of crowns, give or take. I mean, it's practically like asking "Do you want to buy this one armor skin for your character that you'll more than likely only use part of, or do you want to buy Red Dead Redemption 2?"

I'm not trying to be mean spirited or anything. It's just the facts, right there in black and white. If you don't catch it while there's a sale, 5k crowns will run you about $40 - $50, depending on how you got them. RDR2 on Steam right now is $60. Sea of Thieves, $40. Elder Scrolls Online, the game you are buying a character skin for, $20.

And believe it or not, there's even worse examples out there. Apparently Valorant wants around $100 for one of their weapon skins, and it's not even the complete package. It'll cost you $300 if you want all the animations and whatnot.

Their price is absolutely ridiculous, yeah, but I don't think dungeon/trial motifs should be in the crown store at all. I guess if they have to be in the store I'd rather see them at outlandish prices so the in-game cost of them doesn't totally crash. Why bother farming them if you could pick them up for a couple bucks instead?

Welkynar prices have dropped a great deal since Cloudrest, and you can find them for low prices in trading stores (excpect the chests, which are pricy for most motifs). The small pieces go for less than 15k, and the highest legs listing in TTC is for 26k right now. You'd pay less than 350k to buy all pieces from traders, but if you bought crowns with gold, you'd pay 1mil for 5.5k crowns, I'd say it's not worth geting them with owned crowns, or via gifted crowns.

    1. Those are two of the best looking motifs in the game. Welkynar is almost must have for a proud altmer character.
    2. It is usually cheaper to buy from crown store using gold-to-crown gifting than to buy from guild stores. Welkynar is cheaper now after two game anniversary events and will be a bit cheaper after the summerset event. Meridian was much more expensive from guild traders when I was looking where to buy it.
    3. Why would ZOS sell motifs even cheaper, when players themselves sell for higher prices?

Unfortunately, not EVERYONE went apeshit. So it stuck. And evolved. And now here we are, with microtransactions galore, costing a small fortune.

I think you're giving ZoS too much credit. There have been plenty of motifs that were priced absurdly high when they were cheap as chips in every guild trader. Before the drop nerf, the dro m'athra springs to mind. It was easily obtained in game from any guild store for under 10k per page. It released for around 6k. Obviously they noticed this affected sales and hence the nerf. But they still release expensive motifs when they cost next to no in-game gold.
