This is a REALLY exciting change from ZOS!!! In short, I took a break from the game to do performance and mind numbing, swinging back and forth balance changes, and each release continually adding sets that make a majority of sets non desirable. On top of that, forever there has been a huge list of sets that were insta garbage material. I'm REALLY happy to see this effort. Many of the buffs added HUGE variety to play options and style. It's FANTASTIC that ZOS, for the first time, made some buffs and nerfs that were small increments instead of throwing the baby out with the bath water. The wild swings of buffs and nerfs was for many of my friends who left, unbearable. HONESTLY Zos, seeing so many sets have minor adjustments was soooooooooo refreshing. I feel that many sets are now much more "in line" with each other or offer niche builds more viability.

I hope that after a couple of patches, they get revised one more time to make tiny adjustments.

Besides my excitement, what are all of your thought on this approach?

No. If you've been to the PTS they have actually done a really good job at balancing the sets and bringing life to old trash that nobody wanted. A lot of the old sets are now a viable alternative.

As of now there is still best-in-slot sets such as Relequen, which outperforms all other sets, but the majority of the sets that i have tested (i think it is like 50 at this point) are very well balanced and i honestly felt like i had the choice of what to use. At least what to use to go with relequen. Set's like twice born star or Morkuldin, even pelinals - now have an actual value. I made a successful hybrid warden and was able to make a mag necro rotation with more then 3 class spells which is amazing.

Stamina Warden is still lacking identity, same as Stamina Nightblade in my opinion, but at least you get to play your own style.

It's very pleasing with how this turned out. Much looking forward to see how it goes and if it helps the lagg in Cyrodiil.

The only thing I am not happy about it how obviously overpowered some of the prov sets are going to be.

What I'm happy with: Medusa change. This intrigues me. It's becoming an enticing looking spell crit set.

What I'm not happy with: timer on Thrassian Stranglers. I expected value adjustments, but the 30 second timer on the stacks is brutal. I've been having a lot of fun with the high risk/high reward style of play with these, and with that timer, I'm going to feel both less powerful and more safe. It makes them less interesting. I'll still wear them but it's going to be a lot less fun.

I'm a big Morkuldin fan just because it looks cool, what have they changed? I can't find any changes to it in that thread.

Nothing on this particular set. Other sets that were always better then this have been nerfed, so it's more in Line. You'd still loose a bit of DPS for not using the best-in-slot sets, but not as dramatic as before.

Old sets were 100% thrash, I love this set revival changes. But we may see a Proc Madness 2.0

I'm 100% serious. There's a LOT worth being upset at with ZOS, but this is a great change. From what I've been heard from testing, it's looking much better.

In terms of development it's a shift. Most MMo's use new items to entice players to buy new content. If you want to be viable or meet the meta, then you need to purchase the new content. Overtime, you have sets that just collect dust as new items become op and more op and more op. Instead, they are adding huge diversity, I don't see how that is bad. Right now, count how many sets are trash. 100's with zero purpose and too weak on even a niche build.

For example, why run sword singer? It buffed only dual wield and had lower damage then so many more powerful options that boost all your abilities. There are so many sets that defy any type of logic.

Player feed back. For YEARS players on forums have complained that there is a mound of hot steaming trash sets. Sets needed a huge overhaul. Of course on PVE, it will come down to number crunching in which 1 set will obviously come out on top as a meta, however, other sets are now more "in line". There is also a lot more viability for healers and tanks. Previously, for the most part every tank was using alkosh. There are way more options outside of that now. For PVP, the variety just expanded to a major degree.

PVP on the damage side, usually falls into building for burst with high stat/dmg pull boosting both dmg, utility and heal, proc being under performing in cp and good in no cp, and bleeds which have been weak since the wild swings of patching. There is a lot more variety in game play and styles with this patch.

I've done my fair share of trash talking, but I'm really interested on hearing why someone would think that adding huge variety and making more sets in line is bad.

OK, but I'm still questioning  I guess I'm conditioned now... I agree there's a good tone to the incoming patch, save for a few questionable choices which I hope can be addressed.

:) I completely understand. I'm so use to being incredibly disappointed update after update. For years I would read the patch notes, listen to some channels and this point, I generally don't even look. Especially with some of the wild swings, such as super heavy dots to super weak. Now it's more like, who will leave the game. Honestly, I stepped back due to performance and this wild back and forth updates. I agree with a couple that need to be looked at. We will see *fingers crossed*

I'm torn because I don't theory craft. I would but math. What I currently use didn't really have a big (to me) change so fine I guess. But I also, and this is the biggest part of me, think this is such a waste of time constantly keeping past sets up to date or adjusting etc etc when I rather they work on upcoming releases. If its good and overpowered down the road just leave it as is or do as discovered. It seems changes to past sets have been in every release since I can remember. It just never seems to stop and they always seem to find reasons to fiddle with everything and releases seem to feel less and less completed as we go.

One thing that bugs me is:

24 new Solitude furnishing plans can now be earned from Skyrim Daily Reward Coffers, acquired by completing dailies for the Swords of Solitude or the Coterie of Organized Scholars in Western Skyrim.

I did my thirty already. Just like some motif was accidently left out in Elsweyr until a later patch after I had completed that achievement. Why can't this be added elsewhere instead on something an achievement ensures you burn out on? Just like Elsweyr I won't be going back for these.

And why can't Viper's Sting drop bows? That was unexplained though personally I've never seen one anyways. Maybe I read it wrong but sets having bows and staves removed seemed weird to me.
