Ganking Etiquette in Imperial City

Imperial City is nasty. Everybody is on the kill-list. I'll often show mercy in Cyrodiil but I feel like the moment you step into IC you get thrown on the kill list. I'm not talking about camping quest objectives, but if you're in IC and I see you running around, you're a target. It doesn't matter. This includes players that I know can beat me up. Gotta at least try, it makes it all the better when you win.

You should know what you're getting into when you enter IC. It is fight or die.

I am kind of impressed with those PVP players showing restraint by not killing players who they clearly outclass. That is the kind of selfless behaviour the world is sadly lacking these days.

I tip my hat in respect to those players.

Only had that happen once. Was in Imp City PVE'ing, saw a yellow. He saw me. And he just ran by. I was shocked.

For me, PvPers/gankers absolutely ruined the PvP-event. When you are simply PvE player vs PvE player, it makes for some interesting battles.

Getting ganked from the shadows 10 times in a row when exiting the sewerbase, trying to PvE, is just toxic. Dying every 5 seconds is not fun for other players. Please never ever do a PvP event again!

PS: The first 2-3 days of the event were 'ok', as it was mostly only PvE players, and barely any gankers.

Your way is not the only way to play the game.

Often I refrain from killing questers after they give no AP or Tel Var anymore. Unless their class is needed for my 20 kills quest, then it can be more. Especially when it is a harder to find class like Necromancer.

Sometimes I just don't want to screw up someones time in Cyro. If they are hunting skyshards or questing and it's painfully obvious i usually let them be. After they finish they usually never want to come back because of the above mentioned behaviors.

I was ganked several times doing Ic quests. Anyone who kept pursuing me had to deal with an overland boss, or i would simply go to the blue districts.

When several Reds ran around killing everything in sight and tbagging, well that is when I just straight up leave.

going unprepared into IC is same as going into dungeon or trial without the gear or skills. It's gonna suck.

But I think some real PvPers will leave someone who is under 50 or really low CP.

The only etiquette I've seen consistently is when I'm 1on1 someone and it's pretty even fight, then an opposing group comes along, we both turn on them and team up and then part ways after they are dead.

Also similarly if its a 3 way bout and one is clearly outnumbered, will usually not kill each other and focus on the large group.

Personally I never gank a helpless player twice.

My understanding is that you don't get AP from subsequent attacks on the same player.

However I've also heard there is a "revenge" thing, so I clearly don't know all the details.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

In imperial city I will just gank anyone who crosses my path because too many times I've been questing and had people try to gank me, or worse yet, pass by people who are obviously questing and have them attack anyway even though I could of killed them ten times over before they saw me so in IC your fair game no matter what. In cyro I never attack questers unless you try to attack me but it's a lot easier to tell questers cause if someone isn't capping flags in towns or using the merchant, they are almost always doing quests cause there's no other reason to be there.

I don't gank at all in pvp of any kind. I'm in IC for the event only. I carry no stones with me so if I die, I die. Don't care. No repurcussions.

Spent over two hours for the hell of it one day trolling gankers in the AD Base by the training grounds, just running to the same spot and standing there. That's it... no stones on me.. Just stood there and warned other AD they were there. It's amazing how many players don't pay attention to zone chat when you warn them of gankers and then they call you a spy.. lol.

Let's just say I was easily amused for a while.

Depends. If im on my bomber and i see a group, i will bomb unless i see them obviously doing quests or things like fishing etc.

If they arent and its a group, i will bomb them if the opportunity presents itself.

Do you remember if that was a Khajhit in the Ruby Throne IC?

This is what I partially find funny.... they gank the pver while they are trying to do the quest which ends up putting them back to base if they don't own the district, where they can then dump their remaining tel var.

If they gankers were actually smart, they would leave the pvers alone to do their quest until a little while after they are finished, but continue to watch and follow them.. It will become very obvious when the player is looking for a blood port to get back to base because most of them don't want to sneak through the tunnels. That's when you want to attack them. You'd get a better haul too.

Funniest thing I've seen lately is level 45-50 PVP rank players going to non CP and killing questers and low levels.

You know PvP is dead when that is happening.

What is amazing to me is that when I see a small group of opposition, I dodge roll, hit vigor, and run!

Yet, they eventually always catch me.

Sometimes I've been followed across an entire district, such is their bloodlust to gank an obvious pve scrub. Only occasionally have I escaped.

I... Kill.... Everyone... I don't care what your intentions are or what perceived etiquette you think I have to follow. Red is dead period. You don't want to get killed, don't go to IC/Cyrodiil. I am under no obligation whatsoever to leave you alone, whether PvPer or PvEer. Yes. I am that one.

Doesn't matter if in Cyro or IC, I never attack any player unless they attack me first or are fighting friendlies. But I watch them and I keep their names in mind. If they come back with group to attack me, that is exactly what I want because I am prepared for that as I always build for 1vX in mind. I kill them and rightfully t-bag them which is way better than attack on sight.
