Antiquities System does not work for me at all - Am I crazy?

I am on PS4. I don't know if anyone else is having this issue. I could not find a thread with this particular problem.

When I attempt to excavate - nothing happens! It doesn't matter what button I push or which skill I use. I cannot augur - doesn't give me any indicators. I cannot use the brush - It removes nothing. The "health" of the item doesn't change.

Am I crazy? Or is this a real issue?

Everyone keeps talking about all these fun things they have excavated. I have leads that I can't even attempt to excavate. I am afraid they are going to expire on me.

I don't have greymoor (refuse to buy cause performance, bought previous chapters) so the only thing I can recommend is doing the intro quest. Maybe it will help.

I have done the intro quest on my main character. None of my other characters can complete the intro quest - because the above happens.

The video is of me attempting to excavate green lead in Arteum, with my main character. What happens in the video happens every time I try to excavate.

Post the ticket number in here. If a forum mod wanders by and sees it, they can check with Sheogorath to see where your ticket is at. There is a risk that it is in a bug report bucket, and you will not get any response. If it is not, support is currently overwhelmed by this pandemic, so it may take a while.

I haven’t had any issues there, it’s worth submitting a ticket.

The only issue so far has been that high level leads (particularly gold leads) can place the visual chest you “dig up”, slightly out of place from the squares that unlock the real chest. So you might think you dug up the antiquity based on the visual even though it hasn’t yet unlocked for you. This mainly happens when the chest is positioned diagonally.

Oh and your Scrying window can become dimmed and then automatically close out as well. That was a frequent bug for me.

How long ago did you send the ticket? It can take several days to hear back about a ticket during normal times, what with Covid still being a thing and places in the US either shutting down again or considering it (for the ones that opened to begin with), it'll only end up tacking more time onto the response time, unfortunately. As already suggested you can try posting the ticket number and then pinging ZOS_BillE (you'll want to put the @ in front of that name when you post so it actually pings, I'm not going to do it since there's nothing here for him to check yet). He tends to be the one who looks into tickets for people, though sometimes other mods/devs will also look into tickets for people.

Also when you finally do get a response to your ticket, the initial one will always be a generic system-generated one. You'll need to reply to it (and sometimes you'll need to reply to two of them) before your ticket gets kicked to an actual person.

This may sound stupid, but after you did the intro quest, did you go talk to the lady upstairs to complete the quest?

On PC, you have to select what type of tool you want, and then click the mouse to do the work.

If that is on console, it might be the same thing. You are just clicking the select tool button, over and over.

Maybe your "click" button has been unbound, or you just aren't pushing the right button.

Based on the video, I would guess that @ImmortalCX is right. The bumper and trigger are just for selecting the tools. You should be pressing X to use them.

Tbh, pc na wise the performance has gotten fixed in greymore.niw pvp is still a mess.

^^^ Those. On PS4 you toggle between tools like you were in that video. Press X to actually use the tool.

@ImmortalCX and @Aisleyne, THANK YOU! I had done the tutorial the day Greymoor came out. I don't remember clicking x during the intro quest - but that was apparently the issue.

I feel stupid, but also happy that someone figured out what I was doing wrong!

You are stating you are using a green lead, however, the excavation you are showing in your video is for a blue lead. Maybe there is a bug where the wrong excavation type is coming up for you.

Also as other stated, make sure you choose your tool to use first... use the bottom left to try to figure out general area.. you need to select it and then click the trigger where you want to to test.. (I'm not familiar with the buttons on the consoles to use), and then when that is done, you click on the top left to start digging in that area where the green box shows up to tell you there is treasure under that.
