Midyear Mayhem Anticipation and Disappointment

I was especially looking forward to this year’s event, given that last year the constant crashing took out my PS4 and required a couple of days of data recovery. I ended up on a dead campaign for the remainder out of fear and got very little AP.

The crashes haven’t been a problem this year, thankfully. The queues have been though.

My home campaign, Gray Host, typically has wait times of 1 hour up to 3 hours on the weekend. So, I queue for a guest campaign instead.

Also, those estimates for other guest campaigns have been considerably inaccurate and on the extremely low side.

Before the event, there were at most 2 bars of my alliance on when I logged for daily PvP. I guess I am wondering if anyone, regardless of whether that is their home campaign or not, is allowed to queue? You created new campaigns for the event, but they are almost empty whenever I take a look.

If anyone is allowed to queue for my 30 day standard campaign, which I assume may be the case, why should I have to lose my rank as a daily PvP player to play on a guest campaign to be able to play at all?

If this is true, please consider making the main 30 day campaign during the event only allow those who has it set as their home be allowed to queue and play.

The main CP campaign, Gray Host, is Alliance-locked and will only allow those who have it set as there home, @katanagirl1.

The new campaigns with the Event are 7 days not locked ... so anyone can queue and play.

The no CP 30-day campaign (Ravenwatch) is also not Alliance-locked.

Much of what is said is very common during MYM.

    1. A lot of people play the main campaign. It is busy because people are playing in Cyrodiil more, including those that do not play much PvP to begin with.

The number of players participating in Cyrodiil outside of the event is completely irrelevant to what happens in the event. It is an event after all.

    2. People tend to stay with the main campaign instead of going to a guest campaign for the same reasons you want to go to the main campaign. It has been fairly common that people do not want to go to one of the temporary campaigns since the first MYM.
    3. The game can only guess when there will be space. Zos cannot build an algorithm to accurately predict the behavior of masses of players. It is why it is called an estimate.

Ok, so it is only players who select it as home campaign. That is good to know and preferable.

I’ve been playing on Blackreach for the event and I have seen a lot of other players there that are usually in my home campaign as well. It is the only other busy campaign. It’s not faction locked but a no cp campaign is undesirable.

I realize that there will be more players in the campaign than usual during the event. Are there really that many people who have it set as their home campaign and don’t play regularly? Surprising.

As for estimates, yes I realize that as well, it’s just that during this event the estimates have been way off in my experience compared to previous ones or even compared to what they were before the latest update. I’ll queue up when It says 8 minutes and it took more than 20 minutes. I can’t remember what number I was in queue...maybe 40?

Perhaps an actual queue number would be more helpful (EDIT: like before you actually queue) , I don’t know.

It seems like creating extra campaigns that don’t really get used isn’t very helpful. Wish there was a better solution.

You can enter any campaign, it doesn’t need to be set as your home campaign.

But yes, the two 30 days campaigns are full at all times. The newly opened are a mess, none mentioned none forgotten, but I’d rather wait an hour in que for the 30 day, than participate in whatever some have going for them in the 7 days

I am not sure why it would be surprising that players are spending more time in Cyrodiil than normal during the MYM event. It is the purpose of the event after all and every MYM has seen a significant increase in the numbers playing.

To get into Cyrodiill when the campaign is full it is an actual queue we go through. If 40 players are waiting in queue for my campaign before I queued up I am in the queue right after them. The next person to queue for the campaign is right after me.

Zos cannot properly estimate how long it will take for the queue to get to me because they do not know when players will leave the campaign or if others in queue will drop out (or DC) before it is their turn to enter.

The extra campaigns are because players complain about the long queues in the current campaigns. There are threads complaining to Zos because the campaigns were not available at launch. Since players have never wanted to balance out the population of campaigns it is not surprising the added campaigns are lower population and not something Zos has control over.

BTW, it will be pretty much the same next year. Well, we can dream server performance will improve.

Are some people simply not logging off or spending extra time because they don't want to queue all over again? Which blocks people waiting their turn.

Because I like Cyro way more than IC, maybe?

Cyrodiil is always extremely busy during MYM. A player would need to rig things up to keep their character in action or they will be automatically logged out in just a few minutes. I am sure there are some players that have done this but very few
