Why are all the Bats in the Vampire themed Crown Crates Fruit Bats and not Vampire Bats?

As per the title, As we are aware the Nightfall crates are heavily Vampire themed so why is every single Bat Pet that you can get from them a Fruit Bat? bit strange to not put a single Vampire bat in them if you ask me especially considering the mesh for such a Bat already exists as the Bat pet we got months ago for the Greymoor Announcement was a Vampire Bat.

Rather biological knowledge to tell herbivores and carnivores apart.

It is not hard to notice, Vampire Bats have a different head to Fruit Bats, they have a scrunched up nose and larger ears and probably what most people picture when they think of a Bat, Fruit Bats however look kind of like tiny Dogs with wings.

Kind of ironic we haven't gotten a vampire bat yet despite like 4-5 variations of bats! (Including the Reveal stream reward.)

The reveal stream reward is a Vampire Bat, take a close look at the head.

It is either they did not think we noticed or was not concerned enough with the details to be concerned enough. The old saying, the devil is in the details comes to mind.

That is what I have been trying to say, that is a Vampire Bat which was a reward for the Greymoor Reveal many months ago, they have those scrunched up noses and giant ears, Fruit Bats on the otherhand look a bit like small Dogs with wings, every Bat found in the Nightfall crates is a Fruit Bat.

I think this is wonderful news! I've been trying so hard to think of my elf's little desert bat as cute instead of evil and knowing it's a fruit bat will help. OP's point is right though, I think. Vampire crate yielding a vampire bat would be appropriate. I'm just pleased and didn't realize that most of them are fruit bats! WooHoo! :)

same reason why some horses in games have incorrect parts for their breed

it is not something me or 99+% of people gonna care for

but to someone who is really involved into it and has deep knowledge

about it (like my wife) it is a reason to laugh or to complain

It even says they're fruit bats in their names and descriptions. To be honest I love fruit bats more than vampire bats but we do have the long winged bat we got for free not too long ago. Maybe next crate they'll include more breeds of vampire bat?

I mean...no kind of bat is inherently evil, none of the Crate bars look evil either, they just look like bats.

Some of them are fruit bats, but at least one is said to be an insectivore in the item description. Can't remember which one it is though, I'd have to check them all again.

I'm sure someone decided that flying foxes have a wider appeal, because of their cute puppy dog faces. If you were to ask me, all bats are valid, and important, must protect, cherish. I like my collection of flying foxes but we should have all bats all the time.

    Everything is bats now.

I am more surprised that the vampire lord-themed trial doesn't have a single vampire themed set or achievement reward. Not even a title! While we're on the topic of rewards not being too fitting.

High hopes for a vampire dungeon with rewards/sets in Q3.

Are they really? Wow! Good eye!

It is not hard to notice, Vampire Bats have a different head to Fruit Bats, they have a scrunched up nose and larger ears and probably what most people picture when they think of a Bat, Fruit Bats however look kind of like tiny Dogs with wings.

There's also a lot of leaf-nosed bats (the ones with the scrunched up faces) which are insectivorous and some which eat fruit. Then there's the false vampire bats, which eat small vertebrates like birds, frogs and rodents. (In brief: bats are weird and complicated. Some biologists joke that they can read text books and look out for claims that bats always do or don't do certain things, then set out to prove them wrong.)

As for why we've got so few vampire bat pets in ESO my best guess is someone at ZOS really likes bats and has seized the oppertunity to share a variety of bats with players. I don't know for sure, but I've been pleasantly surprised with the variety of bat pets they've released and their similarity to real bats. (As well as the positivity in the descriptions, instead of trying to make them all sound evil and dangerous and associated with vampires.)
    • The long-winged bat (the first one we got) is a common vampire bat (and doesn't have especially long wings).
    • The brown steeple bat could be any of a number of species. It reminds me of a noctule or serotine (which some people in the UK have nicknamed 'sky puppies') but since ZOS are American it's probably based on the big and/or little brown bats commonly seen in the USA.
    • The duskfire nectar bat is a painted bat, which really do look like that (and aren't painted).

I'm finding it harder to match the other three to real species though.
    • The snow throat fruit bat could be based on a northern ghost bat, although the description sounds more like the Honduran white bat (but it doesn't have the yellow ears and nose and the face is the wrong shape).
    • The shadowswift bat could be almost any all-black bat, it looks a lot like an Australian black fruit bat, but too small.
    • The dappled cactus bat is really bothering me, because I'm sure I've seen one like it, but can't think what it's called. It could be a pied bat (aka badger bat) but it's not quite the right pattern and they're not associated with cacti.

There's over 1,200 species of bats in real life (only 3 of which are vampire bats) so ZOS have plenty of options if they want to keep making bat pets.

I'd like to see them do a hammer headed bat, although some people might think that's a joke:

If it's a bosmer vampire they would. I'm pretty sure a lot of their drinks are made from insects, even the ones normal non-vampiric bosmer drink.

    No they don't.

If you're saying no to the fact vampires in TES can still eat fruit that's actually incorrect. Nothing is stopping vampires from drinking potions and getting the benefits of eating food. They just don't have to eat and drink normal food anymore as a requirement for staying alive, although a lack of blood can be detrimental in the very long run as is shown with Count Hassildor's wife.
