Can we PLEASE stop being forced to jump through hoops!?

To reset any trial, dungeon, and Skyreach, Maelstrom, and every other instanced area, can we please not have to jump through these stupid hoops?

Just add a "reset instance" button FFS. Is that too difficult, or just can it not be viably sold? [snip]

Now let's look at vMA that I've had to run since ZoS changed it: In order to reset that, I have to port out, and relog in order to reset it. Or, port out, party with someone, swap it from Vet to Normal, back to Vet, in order to reset it.

Now don't these just sound like significant time wasters when ZoS forces us to regrind gear?

[Edited for Baiting] - [snip] Calling out weak actions in defense of bad design as white knights baits only white knights. Good defense ZoS.

[Edited to remove Discussion of Disciplinary Actions] ZoS can stop stretching their own rules to silence any asking for game performance and QoL improvements. White knights, you have won. My entire core, and nearly a dozen of others that I was involved in, have moved onto other games.

It makes sense it is simpler programing to reset an instance with everyone out of it. Heck, even as it is only one person needs to travel out, which is free, to reset the instance. Everyone else gets kicked and then has free travel back.

    Perfect time for a bio-break.

There is also not a lot of need to reset an instance outside of those going for specific achievements, and someone messes things up, or the instance is bugged. For that, it is a cost vs. benefit issue, and I doubt it is as simple as three lines of code.

So, I am not against it, but I do not see this as a big deal, and the type of people that would work on this would have the same skill set as those who would work on fixing real bugs and issues in the game.

Damn, that's a lot of bio breaks. One every 20 minutes? Think you got a disease mate.

I feel it completely unnecessary to point out that this game heavily relies on grinding and farming gear. Which..... requires resetting instances when grinding.

Cost: maybe five minutes of work from one programmer and one artist for a small symbol. Benefit: A *** ton of time saved for potentially a dozen players at a time. Which is literally five minutes of cost for infinite minutes of benefit.

Not to also point out: Coordinated groups rely on people not asking for a bio break every 20 minutes. The groups I run, if I'm asked to stop every 20 minutes for a different person to go on a bio break, there'll be some kicking going on. My core members aren't going to waste their time for people like that.

The code to reset an instance is already in the game. Proof: we can do it. Execution: It just requires jumping through a couple pointless and time wasting hoops. Solution: Add a few lines of code to bypass this and make it easily done manually.

A simple reset instance under the party options for the party leader would be fantastic...

I guarantee this is not as simple as "5 minutes of code" especially if bugs pop up.

I agree and alluded to that in my original post. Suggesting something is easy does not make it so. If it were that easy and simple it would have been done long ago. Some of those devs have actually raided in this game. One use to raid with a top team.

Instance doesn't even need to be reset, button could just port entire group to a new instance.

If that would also give everyone 250 ulti it would be the cherry on top, but I don't trust ZoS to implement this without leaving some way open to exploit it.

This is a wise way of looking at it. It would probably be an easier approach but that still does not make it easy.

recently I got my vMA fully reset when I was disconnected while fighting last boss and then got "account logged in" trash. so you see, options are wide

The Mothership doesn't mind if you farm trials, dungeons, etc, but they sure don't want you to be able to farm them endlessly and efficiently, because you'd get way too much opportunity for good loot.

They know that if you get too much good loot too quickly you lose the impetus to grind, and grinding is what keeps the numbers that they like to tout as 'active players' up.

The want it to be just enjoyable enough with a hint of good things to come to keep the average player coming back for more.

MMOs aren't designed to be efficient in the sense of time well spent, they're designed to occupy your time as much as possible.

The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.
