Adding epic glyphs not changing stats

I added purple glyphs to all my armour. I was expecting to see my MAGICKA jump up on my character stats. NADA nothing zip.
WTF are the glyphs a waste of money because I just spent a lot of gold.

You can. But if it was purple gear that already had magicka glyphs then all you did was place the same glyphs on top of them.

As some have mentioned.

1. Only one enchant per piece of gear. If it is already enchanted you will overnight the old enchant.
2. Drop gear is always (probably an exception somewhere) enchanted. That enchant will increase in quality if you increase the quality of the gear (again, probably an exception somewhere).
3. You cannot enchant a piece of gear with the same enchant. Drop gear, since the enchant will increase in quality if you increase the quality of the gear is a different enchant than what we can craft or buy. That means we can overwrite that enchant that comes with the drop gear with an enchant that will give the same benefit as the current one and the new enchant will not increase in quality if the gear quality is upgraded.

That third point seems to be what OP experienced.

TTC says a truly superb glyph of magic of epic (purple) quality costs between 300 and 400 gold. Max per build is 14 items, so really sorry about your 5600 gold. You can send me the bill.

Never bother with any glyph other than Legendary (gold) TBH. You can put gold enchants on purple gear and you get the full value of the enchant. Poor mans way to upgrade.

This is how dropped gear works to my understanding. It will always come enchanted, generally: Heavy =health, Medium =Stamina, and Light = magic. The enchant will match the color it drops in, and upgrade automatically if you upgrade the item itself.

So lets say you get a blue item. it will have an enchant equal to a blue glyph for that level. You would get a benefit of adding either a purple or gold glyph. You get no benefit from a blue glyph, and lose with a green or white glyph.

But, they also level as you upgrade the gear. So lets say you find a blue item that you really like so you upgrade to gold. Well the enchant upgrade with it. It now has the equivalent value of a gold enchant No reason to add an additional enchant, unless you want to change the type (say its heavy but you want magic enchant).

Crafted gear is different. It doesnt come enchanted with anything so what you put on there is what you get.

if you have purple gear you would need a legendary glyph to improve it. If you upgrade a purple gear to gold it will also upgrade the glyph to legendary

Umm, in the window where u can apply enchants u can see the current stats, AND the new stats .. if the new arent better its right there to see before u commit .

True, but you have to already have the enchantments made to do that. I think the OP bought the enchantments thinking they were going to help, so by the time it woukd have been possible to compare the before and after numbers prior to committing, it would already be too late anyway because the money had already been spent.

Actually, there are some misconception, here :

1) Upgading the gear so not upgrade the glyph. If you put a white glyph in a white gear, and then update the gear to gold, the glyph stays white. You'll have to set another.

2) Dropped gear comes with a gold glyph, no matter the quality of the gear. You drop a green mother sorrow glove? the glyph on it is gold, already. No need to change it. If you put an epic glyph on it, you'll actually lose some stats.

This is not true. Gear drops with an enchant equal to the color of the gear. Green gear drops with a green glyph. However, if you upgrade the gear, the original enchantment will upgrade with it. So if you upgrade the green gloves to purple or gold, it will now have a purple or gold enchant. Once you add a new enchantment to the gear, however, it will no longer auto upgrade with the gear.

Dropped gear drops with adaptive enchantment... Not gold...

If you are buying Glyphs why bother buying purple. If you need Max Mag they are only like 8k each for the gold ones..
