Hard wired controller suggestions-PC.

Due to issues with either random bluetooth input lag, disconnections of usb from ps4 controller which sometimes forces me to reboot, I'm gonna have to use a hard wired controller. I recently bought an Etpark controller from Amazon, seems like shite quality (sounds like something loose inside, small joysticks so I can't even use Kontrol Freek).
Is Xbox the only reliable/reputable brand controller that is made hard wired? Because as far as I know, Sony does not make one for DS4.

I have used an older Logitech controller and an Xbox controller. Both worked fine with the game. But some addons I use have issues with the controller UI so I went back to keyboard and mouse.

Why would you use controller on PC when you have superior Mouse and Keyboard at your disposal?

IMO, yes. I've broken so many off-brand (PowerA can shove it) controllers because of shite construction. A little over a year ago I sucked it up and bought a Razr controller... Pricey, but I've never regretted the purchase.

Not what I'm asking. Some people can't play on keyboard due to various issues. I tried it for a week and my hand got very sore, I have 5 years of muscle memory with controller. I only use it for some keybinds.

I use a PS3 Controller with the Better DS3 app and mapped out the buttons myself.
I had a similar issue as you with the usb connection on it though, and unfortunately that is a design issues with the Playstation controllers as the wire actually becomes loose at the connection to the controller over time.

I basically just order a bunch of cheap usb connection cords and once the disconnect issue starts happening I chuck it.

I also noticed, if you open or use Steam in any way, it WILL INTERFERE with your Playstation controller and the Better DS3's ability to see your controller.
Far too many characters to list any more.

I was eyeing that (ugly) logitech one. Which addons have issues with gamepad? I'm still fairly new to pc.

I was trying to steer clear of xbox or similar controllers because of their setup and bulkiness (maybe I'm misremembering them). That controller looks thicc though.

Usually the addon will indicate on the ESOUI.com description page if it does not work or there will be comments to that affect. Primarily for me it was the mini-map addons. They caused the full map to show making it impossible to do anything. A few others had some quirks that didn't allow the addon to fully function as intended.

On the flip side, there are some addons specifically for controllers that will not work with keyboard and mouse. Thus your mileage may vary as you explore your addon options.

On linux the bluetooth works rather well with my aftermarket ps3 controllers. Oh sure sometimes when i first connect it to the game it goes wildy out of control but after i disconnect it and reconnect it, it's good to go... just a little quirky?

Are you using a bluetooth dongle or something else? i bought a cheap ax intel wifi card with bluetooth 5.0... it uses a cable from the usb header on the motherboard to connect to the wifi card in order for the bluetooth to work but then you have the advantage of the wifi antenna to grab your bluetooth signal... and since i play over ethernet anyway i dont really care about the qualith of the wifi anyway. it was an edup card from amazon for about 30$. Much better bluetooth performance than any bluetooth dongle for sure..
I simply must protest. There are no Penguin avatars for me to use in the forums.

    BTW, I use arch too

I use the PS4 on PC with a USB cable as well, and I had issues with disconnects from the mini USB side of the cable, so what I did was insert a small piece of paper on the port, and then insert the cable, and it will not jiggle and disconnect anymore. Not ideal, but it worked so far without problems.

    Highly recommend mouse and keyboard.

I use a Logitech G13 controller for the left hand and a mouse for the right.
The G13 is similar to an Orb Weaver, with a better configuration and more programmable keys.

They stopped making the G13... bummer... cuz it's a modified KB with a thumb stick for WASD motion.

I'll give this a try, thanks. So far it looks like I'll have to stick with DS4 if Kontrol Freek doesn't fit the other ones.

I am currently using a pretty cheap dongle, I was looking at a wifi/bt PCIe card, will probably have to do that if it is that much better.

You might be thinking of the originl Xbox controllers, those things were absurdly over-sized. (I think it was part of MS trying to market the console to adults - thinking if the controller was too big for a kid to hold it'd reinforce the idea that it's not for kids.) But they've gotten a lot better since then. The newer ones are still bigger than the Playstation controllers but not so oversized that they're impractical.

I actually have really small hands and the reason I broke so many PowerAs was because they make a mini controller and it was the only one that I'd tried that actually felt comfortable, so I kept buying them like an idiot. I took a chance with the Razr and it ended up being perfect- really, really comfortable to play and I've had mine for about 1.5 years and have never had a single issue. It can also go wireless should you choose, so that's a plus :)

The other xbox controllers that I've got at home are the ones that came with the system and yeah, they're super bulky. I've never felt that with the Razr before- again, cannot recommend it highly enough.
