How many times to press F to "Set Destination"?

PC version. Maybe up until a year or two ago, you used to be able to press F once in your map to set a marker for your destination. Then briefly something changed so that sometimes you had to press F once, and sometimes you had to press it twice. Then after a brief period it was put back the way it was before, making me believe that it might have been a bug that was fixed. Now for some time the sometimes-once-sometimes-twice behavior has been the norm. I thought that the bug may have reappeared, but now it's been a long time, and it's still this random behavior. I would like to have pressing F once set my destination. I don't see any reason for sometimes making you have to press it twice.

✭✭✭✭If you have a destination set already, the first 'F' will clear the previous.
At the bottom of the screen, it'll tell you whether F will set a destination or clear the saved one.0 -

✭What is confusing is that if the marker you already set is not on the same map, you can't see it, but it's still cleared by the first time you press "F". One of many awkward UI design choices in the game. Just get used to it.0
