The lagg and what ZOS needs to do to change the crash-course the game is on..

To quote myself from earlier, I do think this is one big problem that ZOS needs to realize, they keep trying to improve the game on more then one front, not just improve the actual performance, but they keep breaking the game more then they fix and it needs to stop, they have to start reverting changes they make thats breaking the game instead of trying to "fix" it..

The really weird thing is, they keep trying to fix it, but its mouse steps. And behind the scenes they keep making changes that they prioritize just as much as fixing the lagg, but these fixes keep making the lagg worse. Like the removal of animation canceling that opened a brand new problem of skill lagg and desyncs wich only keeps making the actual lagg feel 10x worse then it used to be. 2 steps forward, but 5 steps backwards.
The kicker is, they refuse to revert these "improvements" that breaks the game even more and steam on ahead trying to fix problems that they create along the way, its a trainwreck thats still moving and it dont know its already crashed. Dangerous tracks..

I agree, if this game was reverted to around Morrowind it actually might be playable, everything afterward seems to be even more stress to the server

Issue is, they wont revert, they'll keep going forward, and if they do.... Then they should stop ALL content for a year at LEAST to focus purely on fixes / optimization and just stop throwing more crap out there

    Sure.
Unfortunately for us - their marketing and accounting departments believe that the shorter term profits from selling more DLCs in the near future outweigh any profits from making sure the game persists for a longer life by making it work better.

They seem to also discount any harm it does to their brand from disaffected patrons who wont trust them going forward from this point.

Name any online game that doesn't have issues like lag, desyncs, freezes, crashes, bugs etc. And then go to that games forum or google it and you will see no different threads than here, "game unplayable ", " they dont know what they're doing ", " something op or broken " and so on.

Did they really officially do away with animation canceling? I noticed on PTS that I could only AC certain moves life spamables. But I forgot to get feedback on it. Thinking on it their have been plenty of complaints outside performance that animations were clunky, and I've seen some bad examples.

Is that what broke the game?

ZOS has decided, based on the data available to them, that bringing in new players and aiming to keep them around through grindy content loops, cosmetics, and TES nostalgia is more profitable than fixing the deep structural problems in their netcode. They are probably right, as that is exactly what has happened over the course of the last two years. The game is never going to get better.

If Greymoor launches into a performance environment like this weekend where even third-tier cities such as Shornhelm are rubber-banding and lagging out then the launch is going to be a disaster.

This is like the software equivalent breaking the champagne against the ship and sinking it.

It is amazing how many mind readers play this game. They all know exactly what ZoS is doing and what their motive is. Even more amazing is that people think ZoS has a very small team that can only work on one thing at a time.

You’ve got the mind readers and the one’s watching hidden cams on the private beach where they are all sipping mimosas and counting their money on the deck of their super yacht!

I play another game on my mobile that is full pay to win, much simpler code, larger player base and they shut down for energy maintenance at least twice per week for 2-3 hours at a time. You should see how triggered those rich kids get when their game goes down for a couple of hours during a big event! It’s hilarious and I used to go to the forums just to troll them!

People complain how expensive things are here with DLC and subs have no idea just how toxically greedy some parts of the gaming world really are. That ocean is full of sharks.

That just means they're all doing it, not that it's acceptable.
And since they're all doing it, they all have concluded that it's OK, because we have fewer *other* places to go anymore.
